It's some sort of folder opening device that you clip to your belt, etc. that will open most knives. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Hey Guys...

Homer...

Honestly ?

I think it's a Dangerous POS..

It's an interesting concept for sure,, but doesn't hold a knife as secure as it should, it's a Gimich Through and Through...

Why not just carry a fixed blade?

because to me FB's are a PITA to deal with daily, thats why.

and i have several bud nealys which are imho the very best FB SD knives around for edc, they are still a PITA to deal with especially in warm weather as i conceal them (not the law in my state but walking around with a FB displayed at your side looks, well, dorky to me).

not that i want or need a device to open my folder for me,

True. In the good old days, there was a leather belt sheath that would open a Buck 110 when you drew it out. But today, you can get one-hand openers and don't need that.

Strangely enough, there are places that criminalize that sort of gadget, I think Massachusetts is one.

I have not seen one in person but it looks mall ninja , wanna be LEO to me.

Ask yourself how long does it take you to take your knife out of your pocket and open it with your thumb , then weigh that against the Merlin. :)

+1. Accident looking for a time and place to happen.

what about the wave? I mean basically this is a "wave machine," or at least that's what it's supposed to be.

similiar idea to the sheath for a buck that was mentioned(still available)but mine is a pos.the sheath for a buck can be made for any lockblade(not sure if a pocketclip makes a difference.

I think the merlin is not a good way to carry a knife.

when it was first marketed it was with the LEO M-16 with the carson flipper, and I thought that if I ever needed my knife open quicker than the flipper (approx 3 seconds) then I was gonna be dead anyway.

plus it doesn't seem very concealable.
Do you think you could run with it?
it looks like it holds the tip off the blade like a pinch grip.
Hold any knife with thumb and pointer fingertips only and give a shake, you'll see it fly across the room. about as reliable as a merlin IMO

I know that there are some folks here who really like the wave feature on knives but for me it is kind of dumb to have to catch a blade on a piece of your clothing to open it.

This is just my opinion for myself. You might love the wave feature.

if ya dont wanna wave it open it with the studs or inertia open the thing, imho the wave is a looooong country mile from being "dumb" its probably the fastest way to open your knife when drawing it from your pocket, i think i can draw and open my CQC12 faster with the wave than i can draw and fire my MT makora auto.

i think it was a helluva idea and its certainly made ernie a dollar or 2 lol.
