What do you guys think about The EDC knife from Caswell.

From experience, no.

But from looking at the pictures, the clip looks kind of like a gimmick (as implemented in the EDC) This feature's big draw, to me, is that it's supposed to be ambidextrous. It could have been truly ambidextrous, but look closer at the knife. The thumb stud is only on one side and can't be reversed as there is no cut-out on the reverse handle/liner to accommodate this.

IE--The blade closes flush with the handle. Meaning the knife couldn't be closed if set up for left handed carry---stud would hit the liner lock.

I have not handled one either, but I like the clip idea. I should say that unlike most other forum members, I am not crazy about clips to begin with. This design solves some of their problems. Retracting it means that it does not make the grip uncomfortable in use. Also, for in-the-bottom-of-the-pocket carry, this clip does not make the knife thicker and therefore less comfortable. Yet it is still available for clipping when desired. I am not sure how well it works as a clip, but it looks promising. And the knife looks very well made. I didn't see a price, but I'm guessing it's too much if you have to ask.

It's 400 bucks. That's why I was wondering about the quality of the materials used like the Damascus.

I just got one of Joe's knives yesterday and I'm sold. It's a solid knife and the workmanship is excellent. Most of the ones for sale right now seem to be G10 bolster/scales but I'm sure other materials like titanium or various woods are also available if you want to make it fancier. As is though, the G10 versions would make great users. On mine the damasteel blade is very sharp, perfectly centered and the lockup is perfect. As for the clip, I would hardly call it a "gimmick". It's a well thought out feature that has some real value. Believe me I'm addicted to clips, in fact I generally don't buy anything with out one (about 90 custom folders, I can only think of one or two w/o a clip!). But I'll tell you, as I was playing with this last night it sure was nice to to be able to grip the knife without a clip in the way. In addition, there's been plenty of times (at least for me) where for whatever reason I didn't want a clip to be visible but at the same didn't didn't want anything bulky in my pants pocket- this would be perfect in that kind of situation.
