What do you guys think about the Rittergrip?

Just wondering what people thought about the Rittergrip knife. Interested in a small version of the knife. Is it better than the mini-Griptillian? Does anyone know a good place to buy the Rittergrip for cheap?

I don't think most people will be able to tell the difference. The mini grip is a great EDC knife and the differences are really subtle. For the price I'd get a higher end knife like a 940 or something like that.

First and foremost, who is the chick on your avatar?

And second, isn't the Rittergrip made with a better blade-steel than the Griptillian? Is that why it costs more?

Well yeah it's better steel, but for most EDC stuff I don't think people will appreciate the difference. Buy a regular mini grip first and see how you like it. I'm gonna bet you'll love it just the way it is. If I'm spending more than $100 on a knife I'd expect better handle materials so something like the 940, which has s30v steel and thinner higher quality handles, is a better value in my opinion.

The 552(ritter) is s30v, the 550 grippy(first one) is 440c and the 551(newer) is 154cm. I would just go with the 551, it's a bit cheaper than the ritter and a good blade steal.

You really can't go wrong with any Grip, IMO. For more descrete carry, go for a Mini-Grip. My usual EDC is now an RSK Mk1 Grip, alternating with a 550HG Grip.

The Ritter's are great knives, both full size and mini. It's a tough call as to whether a person will like the s30v over 154cm. The Ritter blade shape is a plus to me, great slicers.

Buying a new one, there is only one place to get the Ritters, Areomedix.com is the sole retailer of the Ritter knives.

I think the advice to buy a regular mini grip first is sound. I know that when I wanted a knife in S30V, I bought the Spyderco Native first. I think 100 bucks is probably a bit high for the Ritter, however good it is. If you have money to spend, and don't mind where it goes, by all means. If you want a $100 knife in S30V, I think there are better selections, Para Millie, etc.

... the 550 grippy(first one) is 440c and the 551(newer) is 154cm...

The 551 isn't updated 550 - the original 550 had a sheepsfoot blade and oval hole, 440C steel and the 551 was a drop point with thumb studs, 440C steel.
The current production knives are the 550HG (sheepsfoot, round hole, 154CM) and 551 (drop point, thumbstuds, 154CM)

The Mini RSK Mk1 is better than the standard Mini Grip, but not by a lot. For me the higher price was worth paying for the improvements.
The Mini Ritter Grips are, in my opinion, much better than many more expensive knives, made with "better" handle materials.
It is my favourite folder of that size, bar none.

I really liked the Ritter Mini Grips. I very much liked the blade shape better. To each his own.

I dont like the s30v on the ritters... or the blade shape.. So I think its a waste..
The regular mini is better IMO for a cheaper price..

I have 6 mini Grips and 1 Ritter mini. For me I like the 154 steel better. It seems easier to get a real good edge easily. My favorite is the 555 with Spydie hole and sheepsfoot blade.

Yes I like them, are they worth all the extra money? Depends on how picky you are. What are your needs? As other posters have said there are better ways to spend a $120 on a knife.

I like the blade shape and I also like the normal sheepsfoot grip blade. You will be happy either way. To tell you the truth I can't find much wrong with the older 440c oval opener I have.

Try a regular mini first it will serve you well.

What's in my pocket right now? A Ritter gripWilkins in pool green. What's the next knife incoming? A small Ritter with the new mini gripWilkins scales due in the next week or so :D
