What do you guys think of devices such as CRKT's Slidesharp?

It only has one angle. That would mean that my hard use knives would be sharpened to the same angle and my edc's etc. No thanks.

the only sharpening gadget i care for is the spyderco sharpmaker FWIW, a bud has a slidesharp and i dont care for it as mentioned its for 1 angle only.

Looked at one at a gun show. No thanks. Do yourself a favor and get a Spyderco Sharpmaker. Over the last 35 years I've tried every gadget imaginable and the Sharpmaker is the best thing out there in the $50 dollar or less categorey.

I have and use a Spyderco Sharpmaker, but received one of the CRK&T's for Christmas. It comes with TWO sliders for two different angles; 17 and 23 degrees. It is actually not a bad sharpner and I have used it, especially the 17 degree for some thin blades with excellent results.

I don't like the SlideSharp because it left marks on the blade due to friction with the guide. I asked for a Sharpmaker for Christmas 2007...but my wife was sold the SlideSharp, and domestic tranquility did not allow me to return it immediately. But I made sure I got a Sharpmaker for my Birthday

I vastly prefer the SharpMaker---it gives you significantly more sharpening options, including the sharpening of countless tools from fishing hooks to scissors to chisels---the list goes on forever. The bottom of the box also converts the stones to a bench stone, or holds one of Spyderco's wider models. All in all, an excellent, extremely versatile system.

I'm biased, though---I'm a Spyderco guy. :D
