I love mine! I had a Kel-Tec P3AT when I first purchased the LCP and though it did set me back more than the P3AT I do believe it is worth the difference. The fit and finish are superior to the P3AT. Handling and accuracy are about the same. They both are more than accurate enough for their intended purpose. Mine has gobbled up everything I've fed it so far and I've not had any kind of malfunctions after approx 100 rds of various ball and HP's. I was just wondering what you guys think of your LCP?

I think it might make a good BUG for my BUG but that's about it and I seldom carry 4 guns. You said yourself said the Kel-Tec P3AT was just as accurate and handled as well so what justifies the higher cost for an obvious copy? If anything it should be cheaper seeing as Ruger didn't have to do all the extensive R&D on it. I shot one and yes it worked fine but so does my Kel-Tec PF-9. (it replaced my P3AT) It is marginally larger but still easily pocket sized, 9mm, and much better sights....oh yea...cheaper too. The PF-9 even has an accessory rail, I have never used it but I know some people like laser sights.

In short Ruger copied another manufacturers design, did not improve it and you will have to pay more for it. It is in a caliber I think is too weak for a main carry gun and think is marginal for a BUG. If you like it then you can be happy in owning it, I wouldn't be but that is why the is more than just one handgun made today.

My PF-9 has had about 1000+ rounds of my reloads with is a 125 JHP at around 1050 and 125 rounds of my carry ammo through it without a single malfunction. My reload/practice ammo is a pretty flat JHP. It is a bullet that was designed for 38/357 not a 9mm auto so if it feeds that it will feed just about anything. I carry CorBon 115gr DPX in it. I did the mod to my mags so they seat easier and without having to depress the mag release.

A close friend and co-worker of mine has a PF-9. He likes it a lot but has been wondering how well it will stand up to a lot of shooting. I will tell him what you said about putting approx 1000 rds through yours. That should make him happy to hear. ,,,VWB.

I like mine. Size and weight are a definite plus - I'm not someone willing to lug around 2+ lbs. of gun EDC. I've yet to put it to any serious testing. I put seven rounds through it and it was fine. I don't expect any problems but look forward to shooting it more. I made my own kydex holster for IWB and back pocket carry.

Mod to the mag?

What does that entail ?

.

A picture is worth a thousands words so they say...stock mag on left modified mag on right. Basically all you do is bevel things a bit.

Brave man...lol. I didn't even consider carrying mine for a backup till it had 500 rounds of reloads and 100 rounds of CorBon through it with zero malfunctions. That goes for any gun I am going to carry.

I've been looking for an LCP for the last 2 months without success. Ruger is apparently selling them as fast as they can make them. I'm on a waiting list for one right now. It looks like a great BUG or super discrete carry gun.

They're available on Gunbroker.com if you are willing to pay a price slightly above retail and your local dealer will allow it to be shipped to his shop. Some dealers will do this for you for a paperwork fee.: thumbup:
