Guys/Gals,

I'm looking to buy either a

-mini Commander
or a
-CQC7A-BT

Good knives? Does anyone have any of these two? Would appreciate any input. I have a mini-horseman that I have been breaking in and enjoying.

cheers,
Sean

I would go for the 7A with out a boubt, the Commi is of course a classic, but the 7A is one of the best users EKI have on the books :)

if your purpose is general utility, then i would say 7a all the way. the COMMANDER (don't think ernie would approve of it being called a commie! just pickin' HAZE) is a great knife in any configuration as well, my first EKI was a super commander, but is more of a "specialty" cutter IMO. also, those curves can be kinda tricky to follow with a hone.

I'm gonna have to side with the Mini Commander. I understand that the 7a might be a better user, but I love the way that the Commander looks. Then again, I went with the CQC-15.

:D

I'm sure you're right but there is some subtle humour to that

7A for sure.. I have a Commander and keep going back to my 7 Series over and over.

I picked up the CQC-7A. Love it so far. What the purpose of that other little cutout when you look
between the titanium liners near the pivot screw on the non-lock side for?

keeps tension on the non lock side of the blade, also, there is a detent on that side that fits into a hole drilled through the blade, this gives enough resistance to keep the knife closed when you want it closed. the emerson fakies lack this

I have both , especially like the mini Commander, 3.4" cutting edge, great EDC! love it.

I have both. I'm partial to the commander blade. I had a mini-commander for a long time which recently disappeared, and it's been replaced with a commander. I strongly prefer a plain edge, rather than the combo blades.

I have a couple of CQC-7's, and while I like them, I don't care for them nearly as much as the Commander. Personally, I think the handle is a little too big for the size of blade on the CQC-7, and I don't care for tanto blades that much. The recurve on the Commander is much more preferable, I think.
