What do you guys think?

I think it'll do the deed without a problem,,,,,,,buy a cpl cheap-assed POS knives to practice on ,,, though. You'd hate ta mutilate one of your good blades with it, only because you was'nt use to useing it! I'm sure it removes metal Very quickly . It isn't like you get a haircut and it turns out too short , and will grow back.

That's pretty much the model I have. It's great for quick sharpening and handle shaping.

+1 get some practice on a cheapo blade before your touch a Busse. Go slow and have a bucket of cold water next to you for regular dunking and you'll be fine.

Pop's is great for belts when the time comes.

Thanks for the link and the info!

I am not sure the 1/4 horse would be quite as strong as you might want I have an old sander like that and it bogs down pretty easy .

Gerberblades---My brother used a grinder like that in our hotel kitchen---the knives came out nice and sharp.

Really? Were you making knives or just sharpening? Like I said if I got into knifemaking I would purchase a more powerful grinder.

GerberB---He would just sharpen the kitchen knives. He would never buff them so I would. :D

So you're the buffer? You know, the Corleone family has LOTS of buffers. ;)

I dunno. To do my knives, I don't think I'd need much more than some sandpaper and time. OTOH, there are only a few knives I regularly use at all, so convexing my "user" collection is 100x easier than convexing my ENTIRE collection.

DIM---You'll be buffed next.
:p
I agree---when the times comes, I'll go to the mouse pad and SP.

I have the same one and IMO its a POS. The pulleys aren't balaced so the machine shook from day one, and the RPM is much is too high. For junk knives, yes. INFI? No.:thumbdn::o Get something with variable speed, my next one will have that feature.
