I use my Busse knives often and cant afford to keep them locked up in the closet.
What knives I would take in an emergency,
my FFFBM,Basic 11,Ratmandu,a game warden,sar3 AD.
A few Rat warden skeletons,
maybe my Waki and nmsfno
oh,I would definitely have my SFNOLE with
Skinny Ash,MOFBM too

My bug out bag is a Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II, and I ALWAYS have the following in her:

1. Fire starting kit (lighter, matches, lint from drier...which makes excellent fire starting material)

2. Fenix E21 Flashlight

3. First Aid Kit

4. Extra clothing for colder climates (including survival blanket)

5. Glow sticks

6. Portable poncho

7. Swamp Rat INFIcoot

8. Busse Basic 11

9. Glock 22

10. Nalgene water container

I find the Pygmy Falcon II to be SUPER comfortable with all this gear in her. Despite her small size, everything fits like a glove!

Thanks, totally new term to me. the first link has a pretty good list. I've got a small fleece/gortex backpack that i pack similar to the list in the link. Been my hunting pack for a long time. I hunt alone mostly in the Purcell Mtns. of south central B.C. Rugged and nobody else is out there so i figured i might one day end up spending a night or 2 out unexpectedly. But so far it hasn't happened.

Let's see, I have a couple packs.

My long term bug out/camping/move head quarters bag is a Jansport Carson 80. I have that packed with crap:
paracord,
lighting,
extensive medical items,
about 5 different ways to start a fire
water filter
tarp
A BUNCH of odds and ends

My other BOB/3 day assualt pack is a Camelbak Trizip that I added a couple Blackhawk! GP pouches to for added space.
Contents:
Complete firearm maintenance/cleaning set (boresnake, punches, etc.)
Lighting, batteries,
extra mags for my 1911 and DPMS 308
odds and ends.

I carry firearms with both bags, and with my molle bag I have a NMSFNO attatched to it, along with a RMJ tactical Eagle Talon.

But, if the SHTF and I have to leave, ALL my Busses are coming along.

I've got an ALICE pack with large frame in my car. Just started building her up, so it's pretty sparse right now.

Got a pair of nicely worn-in Danner boots with 3 pairs socks
Flashlight
BOSS Jack
Hand-crank radio/flashlight/cell phone charger that I got for Christmas
Tennis shoes
.22 rounds for my Ruger 22/45

That's pretty much it for now.

heres mine with just a few of the things i carry, but not everything....

ah, this is one for a whole different website of information: try survivalblog.com for some excellent ideas:
here are a few of my items: but this changes depending on time of year, situation and where I'm going.
The best bag is a backpack: I personally like the USMC new Arteryx pack, but any good quality backpack will do. a backpack so you can actually carry all your stuff on your back if you must.
1.Goretex parka at least, military, northface, columbia but it must have a hood attached
2.a good pair of goretex Danner Boots, arcadias, GTX Ft. lewis boots, with good Merino wool socks/ good gloves and comfortable clothing that is subdued in color
3. flashlight, bic lighters, magnesium firestarter, leatherman tool. tripwire, compass/map topomap of general area to be in, a few MREs, MSR waterpurification unit, MSR whisperlite stove, military 4 season sleepingbag system and sierra/Eureka 2man tent.
first aid kit that is up to date," this could be an entire story in itself"
steiner Binoculars, 2 quarts of water, shortwave radio that is crank powered/solar
My Busse FSH in spec ops sheath, personal weapon of choice in battle rifle format your choice 223/308/7.62x39 with 450rds of ammo at least 7 mags in a blackhawk/eagle ind. tac vest. personal side arm> 9mm/.40/.45 pistol with 150 rds. , extra pair of glasses if you use them. Ps. This setup can be split into two go bags: One backpack to move with, and a cargo bag for what you will be changing into upon the Need to go to the gobag :)
hygene accessories, Bible
This was a quick list while I'm sitting at work thinking about my setup.. I"m sure as soon as I post, something else will come to mind.. "thats why you make a check list"

Ok I will bite...What is in my BUG OUT BAG.

I have a wife and two small kids.

My bug out bag is a 2010 JEEP Wrangler Unlimited.

That's all I have to say.

I am too old to run on foot, I have small children who would not be able to EVAC this AO on foot.

We are MOBILE or it is shelter on site.

I had more but I won't print it.

Shane

I agree with FBUSMC. He is right...move this thread.

silnylon tarp, wool blanket, space blanket bag, yaesu vx7-r, S&W tactical pen, surefire 6p, petzl headlamp, reading glasses, 9mm sig sauer (p-226), cartridges / magazines, Knife, leatherman multi tool, SAK, Benchmade 610 Rukus, socks and underwear, jacket, gloves, hat, dog food, zippo lighter / fluid, knob creek bourbon, hydrocodone, benadryl, tylenol, cliff bars, water bottle, paracord, duct tape, aluminum foil, handiwipes, paper towels, kleenex, toohbrush, bandaids, neosporin, gauze and tape.
I just use a comfortable pack that I own.

It's mostly set up for evacuating the house in case of fire, as we live in the woods.

The comment about EMP''s and "going Fred Flintstone on the Jeep" sort of set my teeth on edge....

So since the idea that reality often dictates reality...

Barring a NUCLEAR event way out in my corner of nowhere....which is unlikely given the less than strategic necessity of melting cattle ranches and golf courses into glass...

We stand the chance of one or several events which may cause the need to EVAC home base. I will not discuss the vulnerabilities of the area I live in.

There are limited events which would force us to EVAC/EGRESS from our home, and those events would require vehicular assistance.

However, the one event of catastrophic nature that I will discuss is the possibility that the Yellowstone Super Volcano erupts. Please be advised that
while this may seem ludicrous, in the last ten days several square miles of land was raised several inches while the area below this land "growled".

Here's what these guys had to say...

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/...one-park-supervolcano-eruption-magma-science/

If this seismographic event happens it will make Mt. St. Helen's look like a 4th of July picnic. It will register an estimated 7.7 on the ever popular Richter scale...in LOS ANGELES!

EVERYTHING within 600 miles, of Yellowstone, will be dead.

(We live about 185 miles from Yellowstone.)

My home will be under 50 feet of steaming lava and ash.

My family will be dead.

We will have no need to EVAC/BUG OUT/EGRESS to HIGHER GROUND.

We won't need a bag or a Jeep.

Every major tributary to the Missouri River and subsequently the Mississippi River will be choked with ash.

(READ: No water to a substantial part of the MIDWEST. This means that a great portion of the food that feeds the world will no longer be available.)

While I do not want to spoil show-and-tell....reality is a BEAR.

Sometimes the BEAR eats YOU.

It's OK to play "what-if" and to compare notes, but please do not fail to take a perfectly logical response on my part seriously. I can't think of just "MY NEEDS" I have to be able to carry what I need for wife and children.

With all respect,

Shane

I'm still working on my bag but I know for sure that I will probably keep a SLUT in it.

In a spare Kelty Redwing 3100.

Fire kit with 3 ways to start a fire.
First Aid Kit.
GI Poncho & liner.
Wool blanket and 7x9 tarp.
Heat sheet and Emergency Bivy.
64oz SS Kleen Kanteen bottle & GSI Glacier Cup.
Water treatment tabs.
Change of socks and skivvies.
Headlamp with extra batteries.
Daily meds x 2 weeks plus Anti-sheets pills, Aspirin, Tylenol and Motrin all in one pill case and some benadryl.
Paracord and fishing kit.
Compass, signal mirror, whistle, lighters.
Roll TP, Hand sanitizer, monkey butt wipes.
Gloves, hat, shemagh, bandanna.
SAK and small fixed blade.
Bible, Bourbon, Beer Nutz.
Spanish translation book.

I have clothes for whatever season it is in my car at all times.

And of course I'd grab my SHBA and it would be on my belt in it's Okuden kydex.

Oklay, I'll bite -- what are "monkey butt wipes"? And why would you bug out with a monkey? Food storage?

Anyway, we've got the same sort of plans: bug out bags, larger evac bags, fuel and vehicles, plus lengthy and short-term shelter in place, since I strongly believe you need to be prepared for all types of highly possible events, given where we live.

Still, living right, loving your family, and being ready to meet your maker any time is the best "bug out strategy" in my opinion. First things first.

I do agree with Shane, sometimes the Bear eats you (maybe most of the time). I also understand that Yellowstone is already several thousand years behind its scheduled cycle of eruption.

We live close to a lot of strategic targets. One of my daughters used to ask me what would happen if a nuclear bomb was set off on one of them we live my. Honey, I would say, that's not a bad way to go, you wouldn't even know it had happened. Believe me, I would say, you either want to read about a nuclear bomb in the papers or you want to be right in the middle of it. The last thing you want is to be close and survive it. So we're good to go, right? Right, she would say. She's a worrier, but still a trooper (we actually say cowboy in our family).

For those of you looking for a bug out bag..... Amron International sells Kelty MAP 3500 packs in the soon to be discontinued ACU color for $76.89.. for a 3 day pack you wont find a better deal... and a plus is the ACU color is 2000 Denier fabric!!!!
