Is there any known history of this blade shape? It must have one, given the unusual name. I can't seem to find anything written on it, anywhere.

Thanks for any help, guys.

Incidentally, have you seen those wharncliffe-blade folders by A.T. Barr? Talk about crisp grind lines! Whew!

I'm wearing mine right now

This blade shape along with the sheepfoot and the hawkbill, was mostly seen on English hoticultural grafting and budding knives...

This design is made for draw cutting and gives you a lot of control for fine cutting at the tip...

Samreweb:

Also found an article for you in the Aug. '96 Blade magazine by Bernard Levine...

Named after it's designer, James Archibald Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 1st Baron Wharncliffe...

Notice I spell it Wharncliff...makes it easy on us Americans...

Blade was designed as a gift to King George the 4th...
