What do you people to say about Emerson knives?

I am curious is Emerson good? I saw this "Police Utility knife" and I really like it. It's about $170/CDN

I already did.

I am new here, so it takes some time to get to know the place.

Misko, Emerson knives are high quality work horses. I've got a Commander and a CQC-7, both of which are tough as nails, sharp as a razor. I have heard from other members that there is a certain quality control issue with Emerson. Some of the knives that get out are not the best, but I haven't had any bad experiences. $170 Canadain isn't bad, I had to get both mine stateside.

Thanx for your feedback.
I think I am getting this Police Utility knife.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that all Emerson knives have a single (chisel) edge.
If so, I find this reason enough not to get one. Chisel edges might be fine for knife fighting, but I view the knife as a tool, and I find the chisel edge not suitable for many utility tasks (it is not symmetrical, so it cannot cut continuously on a straight line).

Costas,

While I agree with you that the chisel grind is of no functional advantage except in gardening and certain kitchen tasks (and frequently a disadvantage, especially when ground on the wrong side for right-handed users), Emerson Knives seems to have recanted this practice on several models. I don't know about the knife pictured above, but the production CQC-7A (finally, a drop-point!) and Commander both have double-ground blades. Here's to hoping this change will soon encompass the whole line.
