I'm very curious as to how everyone uses their Chris Reeve knives? For example: Daily carry, weekly carry, only if I put a suit on, yearly carry, pull it out of the drawer and occasionally open it...... And what it's actually used for!

I keep seeing the typical, "cut tape, open boxes, open envelopes, etc.".

It's my primary daily carry and I beat the hell out of it!!

Cut wires, fiberglass, cord, rubber hoses, cut branches, small limbs (tree), etc.....

OK, I occasionally use it to cut tape and open boxes. But, never will it be used to open envelopes!! I just can't see spending $250+ on a letter opener!

So tell us..........what's your story??

Also this is a little off beat but can some one any of you SEBENZAHOLICS email me a description of the Steel used on Sebenzas and a comparison of it to other steels, this would be greatly appreciated because I am thinking about buying a sebenza and was wondering aboout the steel on it and how it stands against staniless materials....

I carry my small Sebenza to the office at work. As a substance abuse counselor, I do not make a lot of friends in a week. Yes, I have been threatned verbally and harrassed on the phone. I do the usual with the knife, open boxes, etc. I have carried several others before, but feel confident the Sebenza's lock will never close on my fingers. I carry the Large on weekends, when travelling, etc. for the same reasons. I have not had the chance to "beat the hell" out of 'em yet, but what good is it if you don't use it? I read somewhere in one of these posts that "the hard part is over. You have the knife. Use it. You can always get more money." I agree. Carry it. Use it. CRK will restore it if you scratch it up, which is more than you can say for most other companies. That's my two cents.

I carry mine daily.I use it for cutting plastic straps, stripping wire, cutting foam pipe insulation, deburring PVC pipe, sharpening pencils, trimming out the corners of square holes in plywood.Cut a ceiling every once in awhile, heavy cardboard, and just about anything else that come my way and needs cut.It is a great performer.
When it gets dirty,I blow it out with CO2 and add a drop of turbine oil and its as good as new.Thanks.

It is the work horse of knives in my opinion.
I use my Tanto Sebenza for anything and everything. Just last weekend I used it to cut out the old caulk in my shower stall and later that day I used it to help my son open up some birthday presents. Maybe it's just me but the plastic they enclose kids' toys in nowadays is practically bombproof!

Oh, let's see, within the last few days,
stripped wire
trimmed flash and separated runners from plastic parts at work
opened boxes
opened envelopes
cut an old, very stuck radiator hose off a barbed hose end
scored a few pieces of drywall
cleaned my fingernails

nothing to big...

A Large Sebenza is my daily work carry. This week I cut copper wire, neoprene insulation, rope, cord, plastic sheeting, bubble wrap, plastic cable ties, burlap, canvas, duvatine (black cloth), electrical tape, packing tape, gaff tape, cardboard and shaved down some wooden doweling.

And yes, I also used it to open envelopes and packages at home.

I picked up a small Sebenza for Christmas. It replaced an Al Mar I'd been using for daily carry. As an attorney, I've found the Sebenza ideal for everyday work activities--throat-cutting, back-stabbing, gouging, etc.
