I am new to these types of knives but really think they look great. I need to know what you recommend for an everyday carry knife. Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Just yesterday Ramius asked the exact same question that you are wondering now. Try looking at the topic titled "New Guy Questions." That should give you an idea about the different khukuris out there. I myself have a BAS and a 15" AK. The AK is nice, but I think that the BAS is just a little bit nicer. It is more elegant and is one of the last khuks to have a scrolled buttcap, and is lighter and faster than the AK. I do hear good things about the Gelbu Special though, and I think that is what I am going to have to buy next. But before you decide to buy an HI khuk, just remember that these things are addicting and like potato chips, "you can't have just one."

Joe.

I guess all of HI Khukuris must be encoded with certain type of virus program which most of us called it as HIKV! The moment you buy any model of HI Khuk & you handle it with your own hand ... then ... the strong desire to own another model will disturb your lunch, your tea, your sleep ... your etc. etc.

Get BAS!

NEPAL HO!

Once you get one, you'll definitely want more. That's been my experience and that of many others on this forum.

Joe,
You poor lost soul. Me thinks it's already too late for you to run. You'd only come back like the moth to the flame.

So, where do you plan to tote this fine piece of the knife makers art? I don't see the local fuzz will take kindly to having you sporting about town with one of these hanging off your side. I carry one every day, but in a tote sack, so it's not so apparent that I'm "packing" a shooter and a very large blade (if you can call my "beloved pet" large).

Now, if you have an in-town mind to carry, I would recomend one of the smaller vilagers or a BAS.

I agree with Dan. A small one is best for carry in the city. 15/16 inches tops. Besides that will take care of almost anything that get in your way until you get back to you car. ( where you have the kora, and the 30" king kobra waiting)

My other suggestion for HI khukris is... LOTS. These things are like pokemon for adults. (gotta get em all)

Life is short, art endures.

I'd say you should start out with the 15" Ang Khola. It will perform any task that you require and last a lifetime(as will all other HI tools). I personally love the lines of the Gelbu Special, but am loath to get one for fear of marring(through field use) of such a lovely blade. On the other hand a tool that isn't used isn't much of a tool at all!

Hey Joe
My first was a 15" village Gorkha model. That was about forty khukuris ago.
Sorry it is too late to run.
