What tools do you guys use to sharpen your RATs? I usually use the Spyderco sharpmaker and I swear by it but I dont have anything when I am out in the field. Any suggestions welcome, and any links to various sites would be awesome!

DMT stuff any good?

Thanks guys.

DMT makes great stuff, just a little on the expensive side though.

I use a paper wheel and a leather strop for most of my sharpening.

I use the Edgepro most of the time, Sharpmaker for quick in between touch-ups.

I've been using (in the field) a Smith DCS-4 portable diamond hone- it's two-sided, stows nicely, doesn't weigh much and (no offense) beats the crap (for designa and durability) out of the balisong-style folding diamond sharpeners offered by a couple of to-remain-nameless manufacturers. I picked up several of them at the Shot Show for 5 bucks each. At home- don't laugh- I use a Chef's Choice/Edgecraft motorized diamond sharpener.

I use DMT diamond "stones". A large bench stone for home, and a Coarse/fine Diafold rides in the sheath pouch..

Oh, I also carry a 4" ceramic hone in the pouch.

I don't....I just buy a new one...... LOL joking DMT is great ,kinda expensive but I also have a Smith double sided sharpner that stows in the handle of the sharpener, excllent design and I think under $10 works great. Plus I have a Gerber sharpen rod the goes in the pouch on my knife.

For the field, I usually take a diamond rod and only use it if I need it. I also use a sharpmaker most of the time, and a leather strop with Lee Valley "Veritas Green" compound.
