I have never paid any attention to these little knives, but I ran across a picture of one the other day and got to thinking. That thing looks like it might be a neat little skinning blade for undressing furbearers.

The pic I saw showed one in AUS-6. Do they make it in Carbon V?

Also, it said it came with a Concealex sheath. Is the sheath configure in such a way that wrapping the handle in tape for a better grip wouyld prevent it from being sheathed?

I know I could go to Cold Steels web site and possibly find out more, but I ain't there... I'm here.:)

Great design, terrible implementation. Whoever thought of making a trout knife out of AUS6 with an uncoated beadblast finish ought to be castrated. The CS Bird&Trout is an absolute magnet for rust. The sheath is pretty lousy to. Cold Steel has some good knives, but this isn't one of them.

Cold Steel used to make a CarbonV version with a Kydex sheath. Great knife. I guess they wan't to ruin a perfectly good knife by changing it.

Thanks for the info, Buzz. I thought I remembered seeing one in Carbon V at a gun show a time or two, but I wasn't sure. Maybe I can find one if I make it to Tulsa this weekend.

I personally think that the amount that you would spend on a CS knife brand new would get you something better at the same price if you looked a bit harder.
I'm not saying that they're bad, but I don't think I'd buy them new or near retail prices again.
