Haven't noticed the practice on this forum, but on others this type of post is referred to as a gloat. The response to the gloat is "you suck". Of course this is understood to be a humorus "you did good".

With that in mind may I say you really suck!

Heck of a deal. Hope you post when you get it together.

The jealous little monster inside me also says "YOU SUCK!" That's a great find!!! Congrats!

I can't think of another double bit Hults Bruks that I've ever seen.

Double but Hultafors? I think the street worth of those bad boys hafted is about a hundred bucks. She's heirloom quality and will probably last longer than you will.

Thanks for the response-I had a good feeling about this but wanted some reassurance. So, this thread was NOT a gloat, but, now, GLOAT! Kidding. Work it up a bit, keen convex on one side and a wider on the other, some good Tennessee hickory with a nice grain...I'll revive this thread when I get done. PayetteRucker, seen some of your pics on another thread or so on bladeforums...man, I envy your lifestyle and appreciate your basic fundamental approach to outdoor arts and living.

unless you are going to use it hardcore, I would not even haft it. But it depends on the user and what they want out of it.

I've learned the hard way more than once that you have to be proactive about how you live your life in order to enjoy it. When I got out of the Air Force, I lived in Houston, and was more miserable than I have ever been in 22 years. When my lease was up, Boise was on Yahoo!s best towns list because there's so much to do, it's all free, and the cost of living isn't any larger than any other town. Invested 2400 dollars in a rental truck, gas and a few pairs of socks (stopped in every state along the way and hiked 120+ miles in the 5 days it took to get to Idaho) and the rest is history. It's kinda funny to hear all the locals gripe about how there's nothing to do-they don't have a clue how good they have it.

Not a great appreciation for axes there apparently... all the replacement handles in all the stores are fiberglass, and instead of a wedge there's some kind of epoxy fuzer tube taped to the haft. Forest Service likes to lug a 30 pound chainsaw up a 10,000 foot mountain to zip one log across a trail and hike back down... My winter ski buddies are starting to catch on though. Instead of burning gas to melt snow, we've been chopping through ice to get at lake and creek water, and they enjoy sleeping under the stars next to a longfire versus huddling up in a frosty tent and warming hands by gas stove. A little cruiser or forest axe can go a long way...

Very nice find. These are the kind of axes I almost hate. Their so AWESOME you want to use them, but so rare you're afraid too. Either way you go I think you'll be alright. Congrats again on the find and deal.
