Your opinions are always valued.

I like the traditional look and material of this folder,
I like the steel,

I am not sure about the lock????

What are your impretions on this folder?

ARTIST: Robert Capdepon
BLADE SIZE: 3"
TOTAL SIZE: 7 1/4"
BLADE MATERIAL: BG-42
HANDLE: Amber Bone Stag
BOLSTERS: 416 Stainless Steel
LINERS: Textured Titanium
SPACER: Textured Purple and Gold Titanium - Filed
WEIGHT: 2.9 oz.
COMMENTS: Smooth opening elegant gent's liner locking folder with inlay thumb stud. Decorative file work on the spacer. Razor sharp and nicely done. Premuim amber stag bone handle is awesome. A pleasure to see and feel. Handle shape really dresses this upscale folder up and it fits great in your hand. Solid liner lock.

There are actually 2 Capdepons, Father & Son, don't remember both their names though. I first saw their work about 4 years ago at the Blade show and was impressed. The son's work was the equal to his father and was less expensive too, around 300$ or so. Sadly I held off till the next Blade show and found that he had upped his prices to 450$ so again I did not get 1. Since then I have only seen the father's work and appearance at the Blade show. The father also seems to be making fewer knives than earlier, though he usually sells them all. Regardless, they do nice work.

Ditto here on the thumb stud. Otherwise a real nice knife. Let us know how it cuts.

I'd agree. The thumb stud does not "flow" with the lines of the knife.

The stud doesn't bother me. It looks like a great user knife. I absolutely love the blade on it. I bet the ease of use or feel of the knife outweighs the odd look of the stud once you get it in your hand. The position of the thumb stud may actually make it work better for your thumb to get in under it than it looks also.

Have you ever actually purchased one of these knives, or do you just post specs and pictures and pretend like you're thinking of buying one?

But yeah, nice knife, but the thumb stud looks awkward as all-get-out. A nail nick would flow much better.

IMHO, that thumbstud looks completely out of place - even if it works like a charm. Lockback and a nail nick would be my choice also.

I like it, and I don't see any problem with the thumbstud. Nice knife, don't worry about a liner lock. They're really not as bad as people say they are ;) Especially on a nice knife such as that. I've handled CRKT M16's with solid lockup and I'm sure if CRKT can do it then Mr. Capdepon can too.

Funny, it really does LOOK to me like a knife that would have been made with a nail nick.

Regardless, nice clean lines.

It looks like a folder that Bob Loveless would make. All it needs is the girl etched on the blade, heh heh!

I like the style, but would prefer a nail nick and would rather see it be a lockback.

I agree. I was impressed with Mr. Capdepon's work when I first saw it on the web and when I handled it in person at Blade. But I'd like this knife even more if it was a lockback with nail nick -- nothing against liner locks, just a matter of fitting the style of the knife.
