Hi guys, I had my eye on this knife for a month know. I know nothing about it but the material used in the making. Its a Tim Wagner hunter skinner folder.

What are your thoughts about the looks and shape and tell me please if u know anything about this knife.

Also what handle material should I choose G10 or the other one. Dont know what it is.

I had one and the fit and finish was absolutely perfect as was the blade grinds and the out-of-box sharpness. My only problem with the knife is it is too durn light for my tastes. Even though, it is a great knife.

Dennis will be along soon to fill you in about how great it is :D :D :D

Spyderco used to make it as a collaboration and there are a lot of Spydie fans who would like Sal Glesser to bring it back.

I used to have one of the Spydie Wegners, actually a couple of them. Fantastic knife!! it was very, very tough, sharp, smooth opening, versatile, and carried like a dream I think it's a fantastic knife for outdoors use, as well as EDC or even as a defensive piece. From what I've handled, and everything I've ever read they haven't gotten anything but better since Spyderco quit making 'em. :D

What about the handle guys? One is G10 , What is the other one?
Which of the two materials is heavier and which is better?

Thanks alot for the info

The other one is carbonfiber. The G-10 is probably the more grippy of the two due to the checkering. As far as weight between the two, ........virtually no difference. There is also a Pro Hunter Extreme that das the blade DLC coated, but it ups the cost about $50.00.

The Mouse II (G10) was a very close second for my EDC choice. I went with the Ritter Mini-Grip, though I may still end up with the Mouse II (depending on how I like the Ritter once I get it). Between the two the Mouse II has G10 handles and a thumb hole, both preferable to me. I heard some mentioned on these forums that the blade shape was difficult to sharpen and a few comments that it just wasn’t big enough for slicing/cutting chores. This is of course, all heresay. I’ve never sharpened, cut or even handled either knife.
The Mini Ritter has a slightly larger blade and Axis lock, that and a lot of positive feedback form owners is what sold it for me.
Good luck.

These are pretty attractive. I would also like to know what steel they are using. If you were to use one of these for actual outdoor/hunting purposes, I would recomend the G10 handle over the carbon fiber.
How much are these puppies?

I just picked up the Spyderco version (on trade) And I have to say I realy like this knife, the way it fits in the hand and blade shape. I would imagine the BladeTech version would be as good, if not better.

From all appearances, the lg. Wegner is alive and well post Spyderco.

I have the Spyderco version and it is one of the all time classics, IMO.

The knife has heft, max using comfort, outstanding user blade profile, excellent steel (even in ATS-34), excellent grinds, materials and design.
IIRC, when Tim Wegner assumed control of manufacturing this folder, he added the second steel liner in the frame(?) and added the four position clip holes, and that takes this knife over the top.

I'd better shut up and go away from this thread because as much as I would LOVE to own the new Wegner, alas my mortgage must come first and she-who-must-be-obeyed sez no new knives till we accomplish this mission. :( :D

Haha misque :)
Dont know but I have the feeling u like this knife:)

Great infor guys, Thanks to you all

If there is more dont hold back;)

I imagine it's a pretty functional piece, since it's been produced by two companies... the design has staying power, and that says a lot.

There was a review of these knives in a Finnish gun magazine (which I consider un-biased) recently. The author was very impressed by the knives. They seem to be well thought out and of a sound concept

I would go for the G10 handles. I have mixed feelings about carbon fiber since all my experiences with it have not been positive.

Great designs, both the Hunters Knife and the Mouse. Here's the Blade-Tech page on them, Knives & Accessories. If you're not sure about the Mouse, check out the last item on the page, that Mouse Lite in 440C and FRN, very inexpensive.

Oops. Merchandise reasonable, shipping charge outrageous. Cancel. :p

I have a Spydie Wegner Jr., a Spydie Mouse customized by Frank Recupero, and just recently rec'd a Mouse Lite from Blade-Tech. I love Spyderco Wegners and have carried them as much as any folders I own...

As for the Mouse-Lite... I was very pleasantly surprised by this knife. Great fit and finish and the price was outstanding.(37.95) The 440C blade takes and holds an edge very well and the FRN handle is checkered to look just like the G-10. It makes a great EDC and if it happens to sprout legs and walk away from me I've lost less than 40 bucks.
