AKA, must haves. For me it would be the Benchmade Griptilian 556, Spyderco Delica 4, and Kershaw Leek.

I might get hate mail over it, but I always liked the Gerber Applegate folders. It was a good work horse when I was in the service, and I never felt guilty about using it. Might not be exotic, but a classic workhorse and good carry for me.

Define "our time".
"My time" during which I have been aware of knife styles runs from the 1960's through current.

In my time, the game changer has been the Buck 110.

Define "our time".

"Modern" is certainly a relative term:

When it comes to homes, I think of "modern" in terms of the past 100 years.
When it comes to watches, I think of "modern" in terms of the past 20 years.
When it comes to knives, I think of "modern" in terms of the past 10 years.
When it comes to computers, I think of "modern" in terms of the past 2 years.
When it comes to cell phones, I think of "modern" in terms of the past 1 year.
When it comes to BF posts, I think of "modern" in terms of today!

;)

i don't own it (i would love to) but i would say Spyderco Paramilitary 2.
