What do you think EDC Box?

So I came across a couple of leather watch boxes lined with polyester at fossil. I really like them becasause they look nice and it seems perfect to store my watches and knives. For what I own, the size and compartments are great I'm just not sure if the leather will draw in moisture.

I use an OLD thin wood cigar box for my collection. Found it at a thrift store for $1. Works great.

Yes I have actually thought about a cigar box, especially since it is much cheaper and is kinda cool... a store near me actually sells some really cheap and I may in fact just go that route. I just love the looks of this watch box though and think it would look nice on top of my dresser
 
I wouldn't get that box.... But I also might not have the type of money you do... Hell, for $128 I'd buy a new knife with that...if i had to i'd store em in a cardboard box! lol... how about an old cuban cigar box or something like that..??

Unless you really do have alot of money, then sure go ahead and buy whatever floats your boat!... Just too darn expensive for me....

I know, I agree it is VERY expensive and I don't have $128 to spend but I do have a fossil gift card and a friend that works their and recieves a very large employee discount :) I think its almost 50%!!!
 
That small box doesnt look like itd hold many blades. Those small compartments look to small to store anything bigger than a small SAK.

Id say look around online and I bet you can find something that better fills your needs and cheaper. And then once you find it, send me the link! :)
 
If you're looking of interesting and outside of the norm, my ex "acquired" the arm from a mannequin, which I mounted to the wall of our closet and she displayed her watches on... was pretty nifty I wish I had pics of it...
 
Yes the small compartments for the watches are not big enough for knives but the section below it on the single layer can hold about 2 or 3 knives which is all I currently have :( and the bigger one has the larger drawer on the bottom that is two large compartments which can probably hold 6-7 knives. I will keep looking and if I find anything I will let you know.

ok i got ya, for some reason I figured you had a big collection. You got watches too? Ive been reading and looking more into watches and boy that is one little hobby I dont want to get into for financial reasons! lmao .

I was actually just thinking the other day I wanted something similar to put my edc in ect. I think im going to start looking as well, ill report back if I find anything.
 
Yeah my collection is not very big at all... I also really like watches bit i dont have anything fancy... The nicest one i have is a victorinox my dad gave me. I keep drooling over an omega seamaster but i would have to trade my car for it lol.

I went the old cigar box way personally. Just stripped it down and stained it how I wanted. I also have used a watch and personel item organiser. It didn't hold all of my knives but a few that I rotated for edc. The rest go in a padded case till I switch them when I feel like it. I picked both of them up used and customised them how I wanted to, it was a fun little project.
 
Thats great! I do like the sound of a cigar box but i have the giftcatd that i want to use so i may just get both since i can get the cigar box really cheap! Its just that that watch box looks so nice, especially the leather
 
Second on the Pelican case.......however, if I can find a very inexpensive cigar box it might be nice to have as a back-up!!

I agree, the leather box looks really fine, and would look good on a dresser top. My wife has a large upright jewelry box that would make a good knife storage box, but I doubt she would give it up for a knife storage box.:mad: I do have an old wooden clock cabinet that would look good refinished and remolded as a knife display box. All good ideas posted.

Some of us don't like to put all of our knives in a box on display because someone could grab the box and take off with it too easily. A Pelican case is almost as bad, very easy to grab and go with it, but at least you would probably put it away somewhere that it would not be so easily found.

My wife frequents antique shops and on one of her recent trips she bought a couple of wooden cigar boxes. My immediate thoughts were that they would be good for storing my EDC knives. I wouldn't display them and would probably keep the box hidden. I've also thought about buying or making a cloth knife roll for my EDC knives. I would keep that one hidden as well. I just want something that is convenient for me to keep everything together and access it easily.

I think i can picture the kind of jewelery box your talking about and yes that would be a very nice edc type stand! The wooden clock cabinet is a reall cool idea too... It probably has a noce vintage look to it! If you ever plan on working on it you should show is the finished product! :)

I completely see where you are coming from! Especially with the pelican cases... They would attract lots of attention from a thief!!!! I think i will get a cigar box as an extra storage as well, the idea is growing on me.
 
Btw... Considering those cigar boxes are used for
cigars that need moisture is there anything that should be done to prevent moisture retention in the box or is it fine since its not in a humidifier anymore?

I assume the leather on the outside of the watch boxes above wont draw in moisture either right?
