What do you think of the Benchmade TSEK? I understand it is basically an AFCK handle with a different blade shape. It also has thumbstuds instead of the oval hole. I am particulary excited because it is getting updated with an axis lock and will be available with a satin finish. Has anyone handled one of the old style TSEK's with the liner lock? How do you like the blade shape?

The AFCK design and the Axis lock are proven winners. You couldn't go wrong. I like 440C myself. Good steel if you want to trade shiny for sharp. You won't want one after you get your 806. ;)

Bought one for a friend as a Birthday present. Obviously I played with it first :) Comfortable little knife, blade was nice, and the lockup was solid with the liner lock. He has had it a while now, both the Benchmade logo's are gone, the G-10 is going totally smooth up towards the blade, and there is a chip at the base of the blade. It was his first Benchmade, and loves it to death, but as he was giving me reports I wasn't too sure if it was going to hold up over the long run (but I'll never bring that up with him).

I found a local dealer who was selling the smaller TSEKs at a good price. It seems that the public wasnt buying them much, because they were not the axis lock and because they had the thumbstuds instead of the hole. They also use a different steel(GIN 1) instead of the ATS34 or 154CM. None of that mattered to me, since I loved the slightly different blade shape. The new blade is more of a leaf shape/spear point which is fine with me. Also, maybe its me, but I seemed to notice that these come a lot sharper and are ground a little thinner than any AFCK I had ever owned. I can also sharpen this steel a little easier. The thumbstud works fine to me, and not one of the 6 that I bought that day have any blade play or wobble. All lock up tight as a drum and open slick as snot. Like I said, I bought 6 that day, and have one left(mine). All of my relatives and friends wanted one; that's how nice these knives were. For the price, I dont see how a person could go wrong with these.

its an too often over looked knife. Where did you find out about the axis locking version?

The liner lock version is great, GIN-1 is good enough, but its no M2, and it has steel liners instead of Ti in the AFCK, wich means it's BETTER.

I prefer the TSEK's blade shape it has more of a thumb ramp and a wider blade than the AFCK.

here is one thing to consider, Axis locking knives are tip up, when i place my tip down TSEK in my pocket in the Tip up position, i can pull it out using a method made famous by a certain indiviudal who has in the past been assoiciated with BM. if you wanted to a file could enhance this unintended feature.

ok shootist16 where do i find out about this knife? when will it be released??

Steve Harvey whats this about 440C, it is the rumour or is it a Fact? i would assume that it would be GIN-1 like the linner version, but you never know BM never used D2 before the 806.

I found out from my distributor. They will be 440C instead of Gin1. I did break down and get an 806 but I really hate BT2. I am much more likely to carry a 805.

If there was no AFCK, I would probably like the TSEK a lot better. After handling the AFCK for so long, the thumb ramp just doesn't work with the AFCK handle for me. That's just me though. I have an early Christmas present headed my way, plain edge 806! I'm happy!:D

the 440C is bumming me out. Will it be significantly cheaper than the 806? i thought the AXIS TSEK was the answer to my prayers but i will prolly get the axis AFCK.

what i really want is a waved-axis-socom e. Why cant they all just get along?

What is wrong with 440C? In my experience so far with Bechmade's 440C, they are doing an excellent job with it. It feels a bit tougher than their ATS-34/154CM, holds an edge only slightly less long, takes a razor-sharp edge and resharpens more easily, and is very corrosion resistant. 440C is one of the underrated steels today, but has become one of my favorites.

I have a First Production Run (0563/1000) Mini TSEK. I love this little thing! Great price and quality all over. The GIN-1 steel holds an edge well, is easy to sharpen and hasn't shown any rust what so ever yet.
No wear on the G-10 so far. Highly recommended!

The best

I don't have a problem with 440C. I place it slightly under 154CM. I definitely prefer it over GIN1.
