Cook Tact Tanto by Dennis Cook

A very nice modern Tanto knife, this is a design from Dennis Cook out of AZ. The handle is perfectly shaped to fit inside the hand, making a very comfortable knife you can actually use. You can tell a high quality handmade knife from the attention to details, such as contouring, grind, and edge. Measuring 5 1/4” blade, and 4 1/4“ for the handle, this Tanto is made using durable and light wieght 5/32” 440C. The handle is fashioned with textured black Canvas Micarta, which provides excellent gripping even in trying situations. The finish on the blade is a grey non-glare bead blast.

This blade has been differentially heat treated. This type of heat treatment gives the blade a slightly softer spine with a harder edge, which makes the blade amazingly strong and sharp. Dennis has done a hollow grind on the blade, which makes for a very sharp edge!

This knife also comes with a custom hand fit Kydex crossdraw sheath. The sheath slides easily on your belt for crossdraw carry, and is fitted to this particular knife perfectly. This is a very vesatile sheath carry system, as you can also rig the knife to be worn upright, behind the back, on a pack, around the neck, or upside down!

looking good, however im not a tanto kind of guy, it has to be utilityesqe for me, but that blade looked kinda round you know, not sharp corners like emersons etc so it might not be a problem. go for it

Well I'm no fan of 440 steels, I like some heft in a large fixed blade. And that tanto tip is a little too rounded for my tastes, I like a sharp secondary tip. This one caught my eye:

Nice looking blades, but I have to be honest and say that you could get alot more knife (also in 440C, including tantos) from Entrek Knives for considerably less.

nice looking knife but for that price id expect a little better quality steel. Just my opinion thought.

good luck with your choice=)

if you can find the small tanto Chris Reeve made for awhile its worth the effort. great knife

I wasn't aware that 440C and other 'stainless' steels could be differentially heat treated.
