So I ran across this picture on another forum and got to talking to the guy that owns it. It was made by a knife maker in Thailand when he was there in 2009. I really like this looks of this knife. Just thought it was such a cool looking design I would post it up and see what others thought. He calls it a mini e-nep.

Specs:

Traditional thai e-nep shaped knife
Overall length: 11.8 inch
Blade: 6.7 inch
Steel: SK5 (high carbon)
Thickness: 0.25(+) inch
Visible hamon lines on the blade
The spine of the blade is extra hardened to strike a firesteel
The blade is flat ground and is tapered.
Supat left the forging marks/rustic finish on my request
Sadly the wood on one of the handles sides has a small crack; probably due to the sudden climate change. tropical to european winter.
It has two mosaic pins; I believe they're handmade as well.

Looks like it would be a good chopper, thick enough for sure. Has enough belly to do some skinning.

looks nice, probably a good do-it-all piece!
not something that could be scaled down though

I don't think scaled down would be efficient for this knife. I would think it might even need more blade length. I would love to get my hands on one and see what it can do. I really like the blade shape and it looks like it has enough forward blade to chop pretty well. Just a really cool looking knife to me.

It looks like it would be really comfortable in hand...I can imagine it can handle a variety of tasks too. Very nice

gorgeous!
you can fill the crack with superglue to help stabilize it.

It looks quite similiar to a Lon Humphrey "Frontier" model knife. Good looking blade

I agree with LIL. If its gonna be a chopper it needs more blade length. As an all arounder it looks awesome!

Looks like the type of knife you could throw in your camping bag to use for just about anything you would need on a camp-out. Not really big enough for a chopper (ESEE Junglas) or small enough for intricate work (KFU's EDC), but it would suffice if need be . . . and the extra long dark handle is another +++++ . . . . :)
Be safe.

Well hopefully one day *coughChriscough* *coughBillcough* maybe someone will give it a try and see what they can do with it. I would think it might be a good seller. Just sayin. :)

. . . . so subtle LIL . . . . :) :)
Be safe.

Yeah....my mistake....I read back over it all--twice--and I can't find any subliminal stuff.

Sorry.

Must have been a flashback....sure wish I had never gone to see Emerson,Lake & Palmer at Bayfront Arena,Clearwater,FL. in late '71.

At all cost: if someone offers you some brown MDA, walk away....just take my advice, and walk away....don't bother asking how I know.

Oh,look!

A unicorn!
