This knife is 20” long, 440C, Micarta handles. 20.5 " Overall with 14.75" Blade

What do you think of it? Is it useful for real-world applications or is it just 'another' 'Rambo' knife useless gimmik?

Unfortunately, Jack Crain developed a bad reputation, which sours interest in his work. It may be hard to find anyone owning one of these.

Movie is a classic though, just got definite edition from the mail. :D

I bet the heat treat is super. I mean, it is the twentieth anniversary...

I'll pass.

This knife reminds me of those late-night infomercials where you can buy 43 knives (Pakistan`s finest :-) for just $89.... I once saw them selling swords, and the guy hawking them was saying "what a great blade this is", and smacked the blade down on the table in front of him, where it promptly shattered, lodging half of it in his stomach !!! The off-camera guy started saying "Uhhhhh....THIS is not good...." I laughed my ass off.....

That knife didnt do Billy much good :p

Well, it is made by Master Cutlery and they do a lot of fantasy weapons.

But I think tech has moved on and 440C is pretty good for a fixed blade.

I'm sure this is not made in Pakistan. More like China\Tawain - where Boker's fixed blade range come from.

(I can't believe I'm arguing FOR! LOL)

O'Dell: Folks... we may need emergency surgery.... in the studio.

Classic tale of the $50 "katana".

There is a whole thread about them in the Good, Bad & Ugly sub forum.

I'd say you've lost your money. Have a read of the thread.

fwiw, from what i have read and can vaguely remember, jack crain's blades were well made and in high demand for a time. he was commissioned for movie projects and produced customs as well.

after his rep went sour, the existing market dried up. i can't remember the last time i saw one of his knives listed.

the master cutlery stuff are not users. they are reproductions most suited for display if you must have one.
