I'm just barely getting into knife modifications... Thought I'd post an example of what I did and get feedback.

Started with ZT 0801 BW. Here's a stock image of what it looked like before I did anything.

Great knife, but was too boring for my taste... I wanted more color, more character, uniqueness and a rustic, distressed, abused look...

I anodized scales, stone washed them then anodized them a second color... Had a very hard time with the metal lockbar insert.

I acid washed the blade, stone washed it, polished the flats, and did an irregular edge to mimic Damascus Steel a bit...

I LOVE how it turned out... still need to sharpen it and put it to use...

I would love feedback on how you like it and how I could've done better.

You've done a great job. I am particularly impressed with the irregular edge on the blade, and your anodizing job is excellent. It is really nice...

very nice work on it. not my thing but i can appreciate what ya wanted and did and why.

The flats are nowhere near "polished" and the blade looks nothing like damascus. Personally, I think it looks terrible.

The entire knife looks like a last-minute modification.

Personally I think you put lipstick on a pig.
I like the greened bronze look you gave the handle, and the Damascus type look you gave the blade.
I like the looks of the mods, just not the knife they were done to.

Thank you all for the responses and comments!

I'm surprised that many people like it! That's awesome!

For the couple of people that didn't like it, what do you recommend I have done differently?

I am not a fan of the knife nor of a rusty finish.
But you love the knife and the mods. That's all what counts.

I like it very much. Reminds me of some of the patinad sculpture we used to do at the fine art bronze foundry.
I am enjoying the faux damascus. That's great.
Here is a thought that came to me but I'm not sure how to go about it. You have a better handle on this sort of thing than I do. I would add a "wash" of black, similar to the original finish, over the green and that would tie the damascus of the blade to the handle. Just a little bit. A "thin" wash. Maybe that would be wrong but that was what came to me.

Thank you for posting you work. Well done !

I think it's great - you had an idea and were able to execute it very well. That's what matters - whether others like the result is a matter of personal taste.

Don't mind the guy defacing the Jimi picture, he has a compulsive need to piss in the punch bowl. Your modifications create a cool effect and I think you should be proud of your work.

Much nicer than the stock offering, nice job.
But, most of my ZTs get an aftermarket clip. Almost always an aesthetic improvement.
