So this is my first post, please bear with me. I turned 18 on the July 25th and decided to get myself a gift. I've owned a few Benchmades: 940, 555, and 556. I love the Griptilians and wanted something new so i purchased a black coated Doug Ritter 558 mini Griptilian in s30v steel with wilkins grip G10 lava flow and a deep pocket clip. shipping and all it was 109.75$ the knife is like new, extremely sharp and clean, no dings or scratches, same with the scales the only thing I have found on it is the blade is off center, not enough to contact the side but it is noticeable. (see pics) my Question is: anyway to fix an off-center blade and what do you think of my purchase? did i over pay? under pay? or did I hit the mark? - Thanks for your input- Rob B.

If the knife was put together correctly, the blade will be just as centered in my grips as it is in the original factory grips.

If the blade is off center in the factory grips too, then almost every time it is because the blade is warped. There is no fix for this, you will have to buy a new knife or try and get Benchmade to replace the blade with a straight one.

Take the knife apart, remove the blade and place it on a flat plate, then flip it over on the plate and you will see if it is warped. Press the area around the pivot flat against the surface and see if the tip kicks up. If it does, contact Benchmade or whoever sold you the knife. They should have told you there was a problem with the blade before you bought it.

Looks to me like you got a nice deal. I have 2 mini Ritter grips with Wilkins grips and 1 large. All are centered. There are quite a few threads and YouTube videos on how to center a BM blade. This is assuming the blade is not warped.

For $110, you got a good deal.

Honestly, I would not worry about the blade being off-center, but you could always disassemble/reassemble the knife and see if that helps any.

Happy belated Birthday!

You got a great deal.. I have 15+ mini grips/mini Ritter grip. 9 of them have Wilkins scales. In my opinion, they are the best scales for the mini grip. Fill your hand and are comfortable to boot!! Enjoy the knife. If you are still having troubles with the centering, PM me and I can try and walk ya through the process..

You got a pretty good deal. Griptilians are often off center sometimes it can't be fixed but a lot of times it can. Sometimes it's the stop pin not being seated into the scales properly, try loosening all the screws then pressing the two scales against each other where the stop pin is located with one hand and then tighten the pivot all the way with the other hand.

Thanks for the input guys, I was able to recenter the blade to almost perfect with some tips and tricks from youtube. one more Benchmade on the shelf, one million to go.

Great deal!! Use that sucker!! If not I'll give you what you have into it!!

That is good news, sounds like it was just put together badly, glad the blade wasn't warped!
