In the Advanced Balisong Manual in the Pacific Cutlery section it says that titanium handles were a $1000 dollar option:)

I was just reading over the same thing in the Advanced Balisong Manual myself. I reviewed the book right before I purchased the knife.

I'd have to raise my BS flag, but if you got one, I'd be like chuck and get yourself a safety deposit box and lock that sucker up tight and never let that see the light of day.

Titanium is instantly noticeable as it is less dense than steel. Heft wize, it should be noticeably lighter than your normal PC balisong.

I'll have to agree, I saw this listed, and saw that they said titanium, but it looked so much like a PC-10, and the seller wasn't really selling knives, so I thought the knife was probably steel.

It was a good price for this knife, but if it's really titanium, then you have a very good find.:D

That's what I figured. If its a hoax and the knife is steel it will atleast be worth the $110 I paid for it. If it turns out to be titanium it will be the best balisong investment I have made to date.

definitely seems to be a worthwhile investment @ $110.00. However, you now have to buyer in a case where you can claim misrepresentation.

:D

So, if when you get the bali in the mail, and you're displeased with it. Be it not in mint condition or whatever... Call that sucker who sold it to you and tell em that the handles aren't made of titanium and demand your money back.

So worse case scenario, you lost time and postage.

Pray for Titanium... I'll buy it off of you for $111.00. You'll have made a $1.00 profit!

See if the handles will attract a light magnet. Compare it to your known Titanium handles and known stainless handles. The magnetism of stainless varies with the type, but you usually can feel a slight to strong pull, depending. With Ti there will be none.
It just occured to me that the tens might be Zamak, if so this won't work. Looks like a good find no matter what it's made of. $112 :D .

1) It looks like a 3" Mod 10, just based on the 5 countersunk holes in the handle. A 4" will usually have 7 holes.

2) As far as I can remember, no custom ever has exposed pins, as these do, even at 3".

But $110 for a Mod 10 is still a good buy, considering Dawkins was selling a user one for around $90.

WRT Titanium: The reason PC/BM charged $1000 for titanium handles back then was because of the high cost of titanium, and the fact that they would break on average 3 to 4 milling bits everytime they milled a set of handles on their machine. Les charged that price to discourage most people from ordering it as an option. Little good that did.

Great points. I am going to send a US Mail money order. This way if the titanium handles are a hoax I can get the gentleman for mail fraud.

I allready have a BM10S and know what its worth and all. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.:)

$100 says this is the only Bali-Song this guy has ever held or owned, he saw that the new Bali-Songs from BM have Ti handles so he just assumed that these do too. It is not a custom for several obvious reasons:
1. The only kind of exposed pins on a custom bali were the hex/allen head screws (like the ones on Dawkind's latchless weehawk).

2. Those handles are not thick enough to be custom, even the handles on custom 3" Bali-Songs were as thick as the 4" and 5" ones, heck the blades were the same thickness on them all.

It looks to be in good condition (judging by the latch) so $110 for a PC 10 is really good. :) Congratulations. :D

I have only seen one PCC Model -EVER- with Ti-Handles, and wish I had a picture to show. Obviously it's not -mine- :( ..., and I saw it in 1991??? ~~> at a gun show.

I did handle it, and you could immediately tell the handles were not stainless, so if you have any other 3" PCC's simply compare the weight by "feel"? It was also NOT FOR SALE..go figure.

I wouldn't go the "mail fraud" route cause $110 isn't bad for that little guy anyway, and all you will accomplish with that is getting the knife confiscated for "evidence". :(

What are we up to :p ... $113 and I'll take it simply because I'm a humanist. :barf:

Thanks for all of your help and concerns. First of all though I can tell the difference between titanium and steel.:) I just can't tell until I have the balisong in my hands. I guess I'm just not interested in the PC10 if thats what it is. My money can be better spent on other knives. Its kind of like buying a lottery ticket. There's that one in a million chance that this is something exotic. I'll find out what the buyer has to say before I send the cash.;)

Didn't realize at first that you hadn't received the knife yet. Anyway, good luck.

That's O.K. I'm going to use that magnet trick on the seller before I send him the money.
