what do you think would be a good trade for a Glock 26?

This is not a trade post. I was just wondering what pistols you guys would want if you were to trade a Glock 26 9mm. I have a G26 with Trijicons and two mags and am thinking about trading it but don't know what to ask for. I prefer full or midsize pistols. It must be something just as reliable as my Glock(NEVER JAMS). I would like a manual saftey or decocker. I want stainless or some other easy to take care of finish. I like .45's but am flexable on calibers. I am still only thinking about trading and would like to know what kind of things I could get for it, that is why it's in this section rather than the sale forums. Please don't reply with offers, if I decide to put it up I will reply with a link to the correct forum.

Why do you want get rid of your Glock 26? You will lose money selling/trading a gun. Your gun is worth about $450 to $500 because it has night sites.

I know what it is worth and won't trade unless it is a fair deal. The reason I would like to trade it is because I bought it as a carry gun but I prefer my SP101 for many reasons. The Glock has become a range pistol for me and I would prefer a pistol more suited for this task.

You might be able to make a "lateral" trade at a gun store - your g26 (used) for say a g17/19 (used) - better range gun. Talk to some of the dealers in your area.

Trade it for either a Walther P99 or a Glock 17.
The P99 is a great gun.

I would not bother trying to trade it in a gun store or some such though, because you'll always come out behind that way. List it on the net and trade with a private individual. A good place to list it would be on glocktalk or the firing line.
Restrict your trade area to your state, so you can ship it directly to whoever you are trading with and avoid the FFL's altogether.

I say don't even bother to try to trade at a gun store because they will just try to rape you...

I brought in my almost brand new 3rd gen Glock 27 with 3 mags, box, paperwork, etc, etc, and asked about trading it for an older beatup 2nd gen Glock 17 with one mag. Well, the putz behind the counter went to punching buttons on his calculator, examined my gun with a friggin' loupe, and proudly announced that I would end up owing him $27..I just laughed and walked out...good lord but I was pissed off.

I don't have anything against someone making a profit, but you won't be ass raping me to get it, now or any other time.

I'm getting pissed even now, just remembering it. Needless to say, I won't be giving that gun store any of my business for any reason.

Mike,
A bit off-topic, but where is your signature line from? It's driving me crazy because I think I should know where it's from...is it Traffic? Grateful Dead???

It's from Traffic, Dear Mr. Fantasy

I heard it on the radio and it struck me true...

Remember guys, gun shops HAVE to pay bottom dollar for used guns, just like any business has to when purchasing new inventory, but yes, youre certainly better off selling it privately.

Since you seem to like Glocks, and i dont blame you, why not stick with Glock and get a G17, its a great range gun, ammo is cheap, it may be the most reliable and accurate of the Glock family, and you should be able to find a new one for about $500 tops. (I remember the good old days when i could get them for $399) If you get even $350 for your G27, youre only out $150, not an unreasonable amount to remedy your mistake. You never come out ahead when trading guns, its a fact of life.

I guess one more thing needs to be said. You could get a Ruger .22 pistol and shoot all day long for pennies, theyre cheap, very accurate, and great target guns.

I know all about the gun stores and how they rip you off. If I decide to get rid of it it will be on The Firing Line. The gun is like new with Trijicons so I won't be trading for $350. If it will only go for that much, I won't trade it. I'm just thinking that there is probably someone out there with a pistol that they don't use and they would love to trade for a G26.

Id try gor a Glock4Glock trade and go with a 17 , be good to arry if had to and great on the range, and Glockies will make a good or even trade for 26.

MikeMCK,

If the store was in the Austin area, could you give
the name or general location? I will try to stay away
from that place with trades as well.

Thanks,
Jeff

The store was Heritage Firearms, on 183.

They have some pretty good prices, but yeah, I would not bother trying any kind of trade with them, and as for me, I won't be going there for any reason.
