After about a week on this fighter I'm not sure if this balled S guard belongs on this knife. I'd like to hear what you think. At this time the nut is all that is holding it together so its no big deal to change it. Its got a 9 3/4" 1084 blade. The guard is 1018 and the balls are wrought iron. The rest of the fittings are wrought iron with a sambar stag handle. Its 15" overall. The 1084 is from the new batch of steel that Aldo Bruno had made.

Ray, I think it looks spectacular just as is.

Gorgeous lines.......slight Perisan influence on the blade. That stag is awesome. The hamon really sets it off in my book.

Beautiful man, beautiful!

oh it looks terrible....

you had just better send it to me. :D

Seriously though Ray, the knife looks wonderful. The balled S guard looks pretty much perfect for that style of blade. I cant see it really looking any better any other way. It looks awesome the way it is.

Raymond, I like it a lot.
It all seems to works, from the blade shape, stag, hamon, fittings and symmetry of the overall piece.
You have a winner here.

Thanks for the input! I've been getting other input and its leaning towards the way I've been thinking. The one little thing that would make a big difference is about an 1/8" more distance between the bottom of the handle and the guard. I've got another fighter in the works and I'm thinking I can swap guards if I don't screw up the next one.

My Feeling as well...It is a Wonderful elegant piece ..Your work has that It quality can spot it easily always tasteful

I like it too. Not conventional, and that's a good thing. Stand out.

The only thing that could possibly make this even more attractive is if it had one of your famous crown stags. And that's subject to choice.

It's a honey!

I agree with you 100%. I don't care for impracticalities like S-guards on any knife. They are an absolute pain in the field and get stuck and caught on things.

I am not much of a S-guard fan. But, I cover the top and bottom at the bends and see I knife I really like!! Great blade design.

I think it is a little large [the guard]......but I like it just the same.

If you dont want it, my address is on my website!!!! :p :D :p

I'm not a big fan of S guard, but I think it works here. The blade shape is very elegant, I dig it!

The one thing you might try is to put another spacer between the guard and the blade. It does wonder for the visual transition in my opinion.
