Hi. I Recently got a Benchmade mini-grip. I kept it for a few months, and now I've sent it down the road. For some reason, my Gerber Paraframe works better for me. I like the feeling of it in my hand better, and I like the framelock a lot. For some reason I could never feel at home with the axis lock. I realize that the griptilian is a much better knife, it really amazed me. Every piece was fitted perfectly to the other, everything was PERFECT. The 154CM is surely ten times the steel of whatever the Gerber is (400 series stainless/high carbon stainless:eek: ) but I just wasn't crazy about how it fit in my hand, and so I didn't use it. It's hard to feel good about hacking away at rosebushes with an $80 knife. And as much as I love my knives, I just cannot justify one that does not get used.

What do you guys think about this?

Welcome to the forum!

I feel the same way about user knives. Lately its been this Gerber Firestorm that has replaced my loved Manix. The FS is just a great knife, it doesn't hold the edge or fill the hand as well as the Manix but the blade shape lets it tear into boxes and its a cinch to sharpen and locks up stout. But it doesn't stop there, Kukri's have inveaded my life and taken over for my Siegle's and MMHW Hatchets.

Its a sickness, but at least its cheap.

Haha. I know how you feel. That's another thing about the Paraframe. It sharpens so easy. 154CM will hold it forever but compared to this it can be a B**** to sharpen. I just love a good beater. I don't have any doubts about it's durability and strength. And I feel good about using it instead of guilty. When it wears out I'll just get another.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Hey Bluegrasser12345... welcome!! Sometimes a knife just works. I have many, many SAKs that I love and carry and use, most of them under $20, none of them having supersteel or nice grip material or anything.

Nothing wrong with knowing what you like. Of all the knives I've tried, I haven't found any I like better than the SS Endura 4, before it was a SS AUS-6 E2 that quickly ejected a S30V Millie that had been EDC for over 2 1/2 years. I've used some version of the SS Endura for almost a year and a half now. I learned to look at design just as much as material; sometimes less is more.

Carried an EZ-out for a couple of years. Nice lockback. Felt good, carried good. Good lockup. Blade wobbled a bit. Couldn't handle the poor steel that would not stay sharp. Had to change.

Changed knives a couple of times. These days I mostly carry (and USE) a Native III in VG10. Nice lockback, Feels good, carries good. Good lockup. no blade wobble. Cuts good. Stays sharp. $45 and worth it to me.
