What do you use for a cutting surface?

I am using a kitchen cutting board right now - but it has quite a few scars and is starting to leave small marks on the smooth side of my leather.

What would you recommend?

I use a self-healing cutting mat. You can find them at art and craft stores.
 
Right now I have a board of oak cut to length that I put some neoprene on the back of. It works. Wont last forever. Take a course sander to it and clean it up will make it last longer. The wood is not ideal as it can dull your knives some but then again I strop my blades atleast once every session I use round knives and my kiridashi I made recently.
 
I use a 1 inch lexan meat cutting board like used in meat lockers. It a 4 ft by 8 ft on a table. Works great. Spendy but lasts a life time. KT
