What Do You Use To Covertly Transport Your Katana?

There are certainly many different types of sword bags, however, what have you found that
works for transporting your blade?
Something creative I trust? Due to the length of most katanas, it's not an easy item to transport.

Thanks in advance.

Place the katana in a sword bag and then place it into a hard sided, internally padded rifle case. If the case has internal straps, you can keep the sword from banging around. If there are no straps and you have any concerns that it's loose, then wrap a sheet or towel around it. Even if it does shift, with that much padding, it won't be damaged.

EDIT: Ignore, I didn't really pay attention to the word "Covertly".

The MacLeods carry them under their trench coats. :D

Indeed

I posted "To what end" because purpose dictates method to me. Single swords are easily transported in dojo bags, well long enough for a katana. I pack two and more dozens swords in an expedition bag, simply to transport.

Rifle cases look like rifle cases. Fencing/dojo bags are less of an attention getter and easily padded. There are a number of athletic and sporting possibilities.

I repeat though

To what end?

Cheers

Guitar case? Somebody call Robert Rodriguez. I have an idea for the fourth Mariachi movie. :D

To what purpose?
I'm with horseclover. Why be covert? I wouldn't expect someone will try to rob you and steal your katana. Most folks are likely averse to the thought of raising the ire of someone wielding a sword.

If openly carrying a sword is illegal in your jurisdiction that might be a reason to be covert.

Lots of good suggestions so far, but maybe even better ones will follow once the purpose is known.

I've covered the saya in silicone, if someone asks me i say it's a dildo and none of their business.

Or you could do as the guy somewhere above be said and get a fishing rod bag.

I just strap mine to my back. No one can spot a ninja anyway, because I'm so covert myself. Uh, is this Whine and Cheese?
