What do you use your 25 for?

Hi all,

My 25 spends most of its time in the drawer. I want to use it more, but I can't find anything that isn't done better with a different knife:

  • Food prep is better handled by the large insingo, because of blade shape and thinner stock.
  • Pocket carry is easier with the small sebenza.
  • In mixed company and a suit, the Mnandi is unbeatable.
  • Outdoor stuff that needs thick stock is better handled by a fixed blade.

I love the ceramic ball lock, the handle choils, and the fact the scales have no extra holes. But because it's so beefy, there's a more suitable choice for pretty much any task I need done.

So, what sort of thing is the 25 a perfect fit for?

Here's the family, just because every thread should have pics:

My thought is that the 25 does everything the large insingo can do. I do love the large insingo but the 25 is a also very good slicer that could easily handle some tougher jobs.

I find the 25 an all around great knife and find it very functional for daily use. While not great for a suit or as good as an Insingo for food prep I find I like using it more and more all the time. Recently mine has been used to.....open Liquid Nails and caulking, help clean the inside of a clogged drain, some food prep, opening some new chairs, recycling all the pre Christmas boxes we wanted to get ride of and the misc tasks that come up whole working in the garage/shop. My 25 splits pocket time with a large Insingo.....maybe a 25 with an Insingo blade would be prefect for me....

Full Metal Jacket comes to mind for some reason......."anything you want". ;)

My 25 has been my main go to, in pocket knife, daily since it showed up. I use it for whatever task is put infront of me that I would use any decent knife on.

While I have only used my 25 for general EDC tasks, it does stay in storage most of the time. I mean to carry it more, especially since it was an anniversary present, but there are so many other knives to carry and many blade shapes for different tasks. I think what I'll need to do is make myself carry it for a solid week to give it a fairer chance.

I carry my 25 and use it for everything and it performs well. My other edc is an SMF so the 25 is a better slicer and I sold my insigno to fast to fall in love with it but really liked it.

I use my 25 for everything I need a knife for throughout the day. Back in the day before I even heard of CRK, I would carry 1/2 dozen knives a day, all at the same time..... ( I really did ), one each for a specific purpose. Now I just carry One and its the sebenza. I have carried regulars, 21's, zaans, and my 25 and use them all the same. I will say that I love the combo grind that CRK uses in the 25 and I feel it slices like a champ. I have had my 25 for over 6 months, but have not yet taken it down as I have had no reason too.

Something that has me wondering is if the new notch on the spine is sharp enough to use for striking a ferro rod.

I have heard it is, but have not tried it.......I am sure others here have and can confirm or deny its use.

I carry mine everyday, but it's my only CRK
Pretty satisfied with it, though the centering is off.

I just read this and thought, "yeah I wonder...wait I have a 25 and a ferro rod" So I tried it........it worked! You have to press kinda hard to get it to spark. Its a lot easier with my professional soldier's false edge. Anyways good to know.

Thanks for the ferro rod use. My 25 might bump out the insingo out for field carry with a my other cutlery objects :D

Mine is strictly EDC it is also my 1st ever CRK. And i am very satisfied with it. Yall guys with the centering issue should send it in and get worked on im sure Chris will make it right.

No worries :)
Should I ever send my 25 in, I'll get it fixed then!
I'm very happy with mine otherwise. It just feels right for me right now.
