What do you use your SAK pliers for?

A little while ago i lucked into a really nice condition Deluxe Tinker as part of a mixed lot of used knives.

The pliers intrigue me, but I'm not sure what they're good for. They are quite a bit smaller than stand alone pliers or even the ones on my leatherman juice.

What do you folks use yours for?

Although my Swisschamp pliers don't get used a whole lot, they have come in handy on a number of occasions for cracking small nuts (the food), turning or holding small nuts (the fastener) and as honking big tweezers. Sometimes I have used them to cut and twist thin wire, like for picture frames, and to grab hot metal items. Dinky may they be, these pliers have been usable enough that I'm glad to have them aboard.

Changing blade-type fuses. Cutting and bending paperclips/wire. Small nut and bolts. Using a rubber band to hold them closed ,they make a dandy improvised fly-tying vice. Nose hair plucking. Plugging in and unplugging connectors for wire, PC boards, etc. As a heat sink for soldering.

Sometimes I think the screwdriver and the pliers are the only reason I still have a CyberTool in my bag since I was gifted a perfectly simple Soldier (old model). I find that whenever I need to grab and manipulate something small, something hot, something slippery, they are my go-to tool. Maybe I should have a "real" pair of pliers but those little ones in the Swiss Army knives do everything from bicycle repair to earring replacements. :D

Unjamming the copier without burning my knuckles.
Removing heavy duty staples. I've yet to find a staple puller that will handle those.
Unjamming tent zippers.
Anything I would use a pair of needle nose pliers for.

small stuff and big tweezers, and you can get down to one item to carry if trying to go lighter, less stuff in pockets

I don't carry a SAK with pliers very often, since the pliers of one of my Leathermans are always nearby, but the ones on my Handyman were handy several times to get things out of small areas. I gave a Victorinox Angler, of which I had two, to a friend of mine and he uses the pliers for fishing.

I use the pliers to remove ticks from my body, when I walk through the woods... or after that... here in Bavaria we have many ticks, always a propable danger...

Kind regards...

I used my Outdoorsman today to screw in one of those door stopper thingys on the bathroom door.

I have used the pliers on my Cybertool 34 to hold a nut while I used the pliers on my LM Wave to turn the bolt - that sort of need doesn't happen often, but it is handy having those pliers when I do need them.

i use them to pull stuff or to hold a nut. but i use my leatherman's pliers for most things
