I recently got a Busse Basic 9, (and im waiting on my SH-E that should be here any day now :D ) and I was just wondering what everyone uses to sharpen their Busses. From the looks of the edge should I get a strop? Any info would be great.

for light sharpening, which is all a Busse typically requires (unless you have done some serious chopping and bent over or chipped the edge) a strop is perfect. For asymmetrical edges, all you need is to hold the knife in your right hand and use the strop in a motion towards your left shoulder.

A Flitz charged strop will work fine for the touch-ups and a fine Sharpmaker rod is nice to have as well.

I have dragged my Busses knives gently back against a fine diamond rod when tough use continued beyond an ability to keep a keen edge. As with most knives, the key is to keep the edge keen and avoid the serious metal removal required after the edge has been really lost.

Blasted smartass!!! :D

I will admit to being the most horrible sharpener on earth. However getting a strop has greatly increased the quality of my edges. There are some on this forum that just defy belief with the edges they can put on a blade.

lol, Im afraid I dont have that option 1wb :(

Thanks for the link Eric Isaacson, that thread even answered questions I forgot to ask.
