I have a Basic 5 that I have to sell due to job loss:mad:   :barf:
I have no idea what a fair price or even ball park might be on such an item.
New in box, smooth finish with kydex and leather too.
Please excuse me for posting this, I hate the "What's it worth?" posts, but I haven't seen one for sale in a while and the search didn't turn up anything.

I will give up my Basic 7 when they can pry my cold, dead fingers from around it (the handle part ... not the pointed end ...).

Regards - Brian

Nah, it's only worth 50. You wouldn't feel right ripping Gerber off, would you???? Better sell it to me for 50 bucks, for your conscience's sake :D :D

Sorry, can't help you with a serious answer - hopefully someone who actually knows the real value will come along soon.

In all seriousness, it wouldn't surprise me to see one listed for 300.00-350.00.

Thanks.
I laughed that you started your reply, "In all seriousness..." with that avatar. Classic.
Sorry if that's your actual passport photo :)

Bushido Warriors are not to be taken lightly my friend.:grumpy: And yes, that is my passport photo.;)

Yeah. I would say $350 is unattainable. $300 is probably top-end. The 7 and 9, alternatingly, seem to be the most popular and fetch the highest prices. The 3 is a throw-away for some reason. I guess at that point, get a Game Warden or a Howlin Rat.

Love my 7 and 9.

$250 -$300 if you include both sheaths. You might get $300 if someone is looking for that model; if not, $250 is probably closer to what you will end up getting. There is just too much INFI on the X for the Basic 5 to occupy a unique niche that might warrant a higher price, at least IMHO.

A basic 3 just went for $163 and a Basic 7 for $235, on ebay a few days ago. Both new. Just for reference.

The Basic #5 was and is the hardest to find of the Basic line.

The #5 has sold at a higher price than the other Basics since they went out of production.

The average price being roughly $100.00 over the Factory price.

Out of production for more than 7 years the Basics are still one of the most under valued of any production knives Busse made at the time.

If you like the Handle you will Love the knife.

It is Still my Wife's Favorite User(She still likes it better than Her SHBA)

How on earth is yours "New in box?" I never got a box, and no I don't count the usps priority a box.

Basic's came with a box. Whoever bot my set (I didn't save the email), I've got your #5 box - I finally found it.

I can't believe those went that cheap on the'bay. I should have bid on that 7 - even tho I have one already. LOL

As Andre said, the B5 is and was the hardest Basic to find.

The only Basic that I kept, box and all.

It really didn't have a counterpart in any of the other lines, like the B9 or B7.

That may have changed with one of the SY knives, looks similar but I've never done a side by side.

Very few come up for sale because it is such a useful size/shape.

Really, the best of the Basics.

Rob

Brian,

In new condition with the 2 sheaths, I would think at least $300. It is one heck of a knife that is really hard to find.

Do you know who made the leather sheath? Right now, everything considered, I think $325 sounds real fair, and that's a market adjusted price. Ought to be $350, but I doubt the market will bear that right now. Sorry to hear about your position, we all feel for Detroit right now. Especially sorry to hear it may cost you your Basic-5 as well. best wishes. maybe get first right of buyback from whomever buys it from you.
