I' ve never had a carbon fiber handled knife and im planing and buy a Spyderco sage CF. So what does Carbon Fiber feel like?

on the sage, it is smooth, no ridges or texturing.

the feel will just depend on the texturing.

there are a lot of different kinds of CF; here are the ones I own. The sage has a raised textured as opposed to a sanded or blasted texture.

here is a caly 3; it is smooth

and here is a sage with the texture.

oops, mixed up the bradley with the sage, which i sold a while back.

bradley is smooth.

sage is mildly textured, more like bumpy, as the above poster says.

Actually, the bradley and sage have the same carbon fiber.

i know what i was thinking of!

the cf scale i had for an xm18 was smooth, no bumps.

i promise.

Besides weight, what is the benefit of carbon fiber?
I'm not sure if I'm a fan of it or not.
It would be nice if it were a bit grippier, but I have that complaint about most knives. I like it when I grab a knife/tool, and it feels like it's grabbing me back. It's one of the things I love about the ZT 301 and 121. Very solid to hold - no slippage.

the cf military has the peel ply texture, its pretty grippy.

i think most makers smooth out the cf for the visual effect, but the cf itself is not inherently smoother than most g10.

Actually the Sage and GB use the same CF I believe. There is a mild texture (the weave of the carbon fiber). It's not grippy like G10, but it does provide more purchase than say a stainless steel handle. :D
