What does CF and bolstered mean when it comes to knives?

CF is usually Carbon Fibre and bolstered means a different material at the blade end of the handle (usually metal) to take the extra strains and bearing surfaces of the pivot.

Bolsters can and are also used on fixed blade knives in the same place.
