What does it mean when a blade is magnetic?

Hey Guys-

Does this have something to do with the heat treat? Is this a good sign or a bad sign?

Thanks for the input.

Blades can get slightly magnetic from being in close proximity to electrical motors that are running.

You can get demagnetizers from Harbor Freight, Grizzly, MSC etc.
Get the good ones that have the flat top, about 41/2"X 7". The real cheap ones that you pass the item through are not big enough.

Most makers have one in the shop.:)

It probably means that the knife was worked on while being in a magnetic clamp.

It probably means that it will pick up small screws and other metal objects! :D (I know, there's one in every crowd)

It won't or shouldn't hurt a thing. As mentioned previously, if you want to demagnetize it get one of those demagnetizer thingys but its really not worth your trouble.

Now, if it will move an anvil from across the room, how much do you want for it??? :D

Great-

It's a hand forged blade and you know how methods very. I had the utmost confidence in this maker and now I'll even sleep better.

Thanks all! :)
