I searched Google and found nothing, and the Gerber website turned up nothing.
They've been making the L.S.T for over 30 years and have 3 sizes so you'd think it would be on their website, but I couldn't find it.

Light, Smooth, Tough.

That's actually pretty much what I remember from when I used to carry them back in the '90's. Light, Smooth (or Strong), Tough. That's how Gerber listed it in their ads. I used to buy 'em at Cutlery World, if anybody remembers that old knife chain usually found in malls.

I still have a PS LST in my desk drawer that I use to open mail. That back lock's as solid as it was the first day I brought it home.

I just received an ultralight L.S.T from member PWatkins and it's a solid little knife.
No blade play, great size ( slightly more blade yet shorter over all compared to my BUCK 425 and 283 ), and I like how they left the nail nick off of a knife that doesn't require it.
I also like how it has a half stop like my US1, it's just not common to find a lockback with a half stop and it gives a certain pleasantry to the action.

Yeah... mine has a half-stop like some traditionals do. It's also an unlined handle. Gerber just set the back lock mechanism and blade in the composite handles. When they say "light", they mean ultra light weight.

They sure won't weigh down your pocket, and I'd say are plenty strong enough for mundane everyday cutting tasks.

LST was Light Strong Tough at one point too.

Gerber was an early adopter of Zytel type plastics (I want to say the first), and LST was the acronym that they embodied.

Interesting that they no longer list what it stands for, or seem to market it or anything.
It seems to have been a popular or success design yet i'lI bet they don't do any sort of 40th anniversary model or something.

It's also interesting that the Case Caliber looks just like the Gerber L.S.T, it makes me wonder if they also got rights to the design from Blackie Collins.

I hope you enjoy it brother
