In an article about knife, I found the term "detent balls" that I dont know

what does mean "detent balls"?

thanks for answers of future

A detent, for lack of a better description is a dent, indention, or hole. On a knife, the detent would most likely be in the blade. The ball is a tiny ball (or somtimes a machined ridge or bump) that is stuck into the frame of a framelock knife, or liner of a linerlock knife. When the blade is closed, the ball fits into the detent, keeping the blade closed.
