What does 'Nimravus' mean?

I got the Nimravus Cub from Cabela's (the camo one, it cost too much, but I like camo) in Mitchel, SD in Aug. since then I have been trying to find out what it meant on my own with no luck. Thanks
PS: Wasn't there a Benchmade forum before?

The Benchmade "Nimravus" was named by our own James Mattis (RIP). It is an extinct member of the cat family from prehistoric times.

Of course, you´re right guys. But what about this; I do associate this name with Nimrod as well. Maybe a combo?
