What does Sal collect?

If I was Sal, I would collect the destroyed knives that people had sent in for replacement. I think it would be cool to have a display of Spydies that had obviously been used very hard. A graveyard of sorts.

Of course, if I was Sal, I would have a lot more money, all the Spydies I could want, and get to come up with my own knives. Ahhhhhh....

I am a knife person and do collect knives.

My "main" collection is Spyderco, #008

Spyderco prototypes.

I also collect custom kinives made with a serrated edge. They are always special ordered. I do have a number of those.

I collect oddballs, knives of friends in the business.

Japanese swords.

Rocks from different places in the world I've been.

Sal:
Thanks for sharing what you collect.
One thing, though...please do NOT collect any rocks from a certain mountain in Hawaii (forgot its name), or from Bodie, CA.(an old mining town that's now a tourist attraction) that are known to bring bad luck...just to be on the safe side.

Pele's tears which are black volcanic glass and the rare Pele's hair which are amber colored volcanic glass are not to be collected from Kilauea Volcano National Park. On that note, rocks that make up the walls of ancient native Hawaiian temples called Heiau are also not to be touched if possible. Remember the cursed Tiki from that episode of the Brady Bunch? Nuff' said about pissing off the native gods and the Kahuna.

Sal,
I also was told that you collect Lotus cars
and love breaking your own record picking up the mail. Any truth to that?
Good collecting!

Hi Jocko. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

I guess I do have a Lotus or two and have been accused now and then of slightly exceding a speed limit.

Sal,

Did you pick up one of those fully serrated Al Mar SERE Fixed Blades that I saw a pic of in Fighting Knives in the late 80s or early 90s? I think they were AMK Protos.

That was a very cool knife period, but with a fully serrated blade, it was a mean motorscooter.

Hello Sal,
Don't know if you remember, but I gave you that little horn-handled knife w/ the "World's Oldest Spydie Hole" at the NYC show. Have you been able to find any history, etc. on that? Pretty interesting little piece.
Regards,
Mike

Sal, any chance of a pic of the Jap Katana and Wakizashi you own? Assuming that is what you were refering to? Thanks!

What Lotus cars do you own? Great British car company! Must make a nice change from sloppy handling American brutes!

If there is one thing we do RIGHT it is a good sports car!

Hi General. Sorry, cannot yet post pics. I have several Japanese (Please do not use the slang here) Katanas & Wakizashi's.

Lotus does make some great cars. I have e few older ones (type 14 Elite, Europa JPS, Elan drop top & '91 Elan). I'm waiting for the Elise to make it to the States.

DOH! Sorry Sal, I was typing fast and did not think. I intended no insult or slur against the Japanese people.

Great swords!

I take it they are folded steel?

Thanx General. Pobody's Nerfect.

Yes, they are made in the traditional manner of folding for carbon migration rather than patterns in the steel.
