What does the future hold for the Military?

What can we look forward to with this awesome folder? I know several steels have been used and unfortunately, I've missed about all of them. Yes, I showed up really late to the party. Some general questions I hope will inspire some productive conversations amongst steel junkies and knife aficionados' alike.

1- Is there any major or minor design changes in the works? Such as 4 way pocket clip, larger lanyard hole, more complete skeletonized liners?

2- Could we expect to see any new variations with handle materials different colored G10, CF, maybe a CF/G10 combo (aside from the long awaited knifeworks special)?

3- Will any new runs be produced with Crucible steels? CPM-S90V, CPM-154CM, CPM-S60V?

Go.

There has been a Military II in the works for quite some time, supposed to be the introduction of the stop lock as well. The Military was the original Mule, and Sal has been using it to test new steels for years. I expect to see sprint runs of the Military in some of the Carpenter steels, including one that is their version of BG-42. S90V and S60V (a.k.a. 440V) have been done, and while I wouldn't mind seeing either or both return, I'm not holding my breath. CPM 154 might be interesting, but I personally would rather see CPM S110V.

I have Ti Militaries in S90 and S60 but wouldn't mind a crack at an S110.

Well here is one we can hopefully all look forward to.........:)
I had a chance to handle this and the machining on the handle is simply amazing. I cannot wait for the production version to be announced.

That ^ Millie is freaking sweet. I'll be grabbing one of those when they hit the street, that's for sure!

Just so everyone knows. This pic was NOT taken at the Spyderco booth were photo's of the proto's are prohibited. It was taken at the main Blade competition display for knives entering the Blade Magazine awards. Here is the full pic with other knives on either side..........

They've announced the Paramilitary II. It has the 4 way position clip and the larger lanyard hole.

They put those on the regular military (or maybe the Ti!) and I'll buy three.

Hi Revdevil,

The Military will continue to evolve as other models. We've just been slower on the Millie because it has been well received and changes are carefully considered.

The new Millie will probably be offered alongside of the current design for a while as we watch.

gotta be careful of dis-con the current design. It works and has been doing so a LONG time. That says a lot about the Millie.

Mr Glesser ,I hope that you continue to offer this version of the Military even with the newer one, and call it "Classic", or some such title.
This version of the Military is very comfortable in the hand and is an excellent using knife.One of the best all around folder in its present configuration.

@proguide:
I agree with you completely. I currently own 3 Military knives and I want to get more. I still need the camo with black and satin blades.
@Raj:
Great idea. I would really hope it makes economic sense for the company though.
