I guess the question says it all. I checked out the HI website, but could not find a picture of it. Is it a new style? Thanks.

Hey Ad, the HI M43 is still in it's development phase. It should be a beauty. It is a full tang, forward curving model with a very graceful blade.

If you use the search feature and plug M43 into and search the HI forum you'll find several posts and a picture of the incredible model Terry Sisko made for the proto-type.

the m43 is an old model made by sheffield cutlery the HI version is based on a model based on an actual m43 original.

did that make sense to anyone besides me?

The post was made by Uncle Bill on the 15th. I knew it wasn't to far back so I went back 30 days and found it.
It does help to look for the info you want first if possible.:D

It will be really nice when the search is functioning properly again though.;)

Here are some examples

Thanks for the info. It is really a beautiful, graceful looking khuk. I'd like to see more khuks made with the rounded tops (is this old-style?) I guess I'll have to get one someday.:)

Just an observation, the older fighting khuks like the 18th Century seem to me to have a more acute bend to the blade, lessening their usefulness for chopping, slashing, whatever.

But lordy what force you can exert by swinging then like hammers and driving the point in.

More pix BTTT

The third from the bottom on the right of the pic with multiple khuks looks a little bit like Durba's, but still is slimmer and more graceful. I agree that Durba's (and presumably the KNN's) look fat. That's fine for a GRS, but not so fine for an M43, IMHO.

As the title says.
I'm going to try and attach just the pic of the new H.I. M-43 and then John's M-43's.:)

Hoping this works.:)
Success!!!!:D
Hope this helps everyone to make a better comparison.
When you can get the new and old ones closer together there doesn't appear that there's that much difference to me, Just enough.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the old M-43s have been sharpened a time or two, some perhaps more than others and sharpening a heavy ding out can definitely change the shape of a blade.
Sometimes more than one thinks.
One quarter of an inch makes a lot of difference, especially on a khukuri's belly!!!!
Wish a 1/4" would make that much difference in MY Belly!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D

Just checked out Terry's M43 model - would it be too late to get on the list for one?

Cheers

You are on the list, Andrew, but you'll have to keep bugging me and be prepared to wait for awhile.

I give up (in, whatever). Can you add me to the list? But only if the kamis can get it close enough to the model...what Rusty wrote in some thread or the other about the blade reflects my thoughts too.

Uncle Bill, I will send e-mail separately confirming this.

I've got to stop loading these photographs...what the eye don't see the heart don't long for...)
