What does the no. on the blade mean?

Hello all,

I just purchased a NIB Native from someone who advertised on the Bladeforums, and I noticed that there is the number "103" stamped on the blade. Does anyone know what that number designates? I'm hoping my knife is trying to tell me how many years I will live, but I have a feeling that won't be the case.

BTW, this knife is far and away the sharpest out of the box knife that I've ever purchased. Now I just have to figure out how to sharpen a knife that has a bevel on only one side.....

thanks,
Phil Reedy

That is my collector number. It is serial number 103. I hope that you enjoy it.

The first 1000 are numbered. The first 200 are reserved for the collectors' program. If you see any with number 86, let me know.

BTW, In the Sharpmaker's video with Sal, he suggests that you sharpen the knife on both sides.
