What does your wife think?

If she likes them she'll tell, and if she doesn't she'll let me know too. I guess she is my most honest critic.
She is especially fond of the money I get when I sell one. :D

My fiance likes them, she is also my critic and is still waiting for me to make her a knife. I guess I can now that we're engaged. Maybe i'll wait a little longer! :D

My wife's my biggest, supporter, critic and advisor.
I ask for her advise on every knife, her opinion on fit and finish, materials used or advise on what should be used. She works a fultime job so I can pursue my fultime knifemaking dream. I'm not Buxton knives, we're Buxton knives. O yeah, she likes them.

My wife is very supportive and has a good eye for detail...she does the quality control. She can be brutally honest which is what I need. She'll sure let me know when I make something ugly! The pretty ones she wants to keep. I'm very fortunate to have her!

My wife is very supportive, and loves my blades once they're done. Except wharncliffs, she thinks they're ugly. I can't show her anything before it's finished, though. They just don't impress her then.
For the most part, she's the one that sets my prices, and she keeps all the books, and helps me sell when we work events. In short, she's great.

My wife is my biggest fan and critic. She's a professional artist and if something I make does not mesh with her sense of aesthetics she lets me know what's wrong and why it doesn't work PDQ.
She likes most of my work overall, but there are times when she wrinkles her nose at my latest creation. Oh well...
She actually nudged me into knifemaking back in 1993 when I was collecting/buying knives rather heavily. She bought me a Sears 1"x42" grinder and suggested I make'em rather than buy'em. It would be cheaper in the long run. After making my first file knife I was hooked. She's happy now that the "knife thing" has been bringing in money rather than money going out on new knifeys.;)

All the best,
Mike U.

The girlfriend just loves knives. She picks out alot of my handle materials. When I am having a bad day in the shop, she comforts and encourages me. I even think she is better selling my knives than I am...:D :D :D

My wife has resigned herself to the fact that I keep making knives. She was not all that crazy about it at first and it has taken some time for her to come around to it. But I would say that now she kind of gets off on some of my designs, shakes her head at others. I think she's mostly happy that I spend my free time in my studio making something rather than hanging around the gin mill with loose women, not that I was ever too big on that before! ;) And she really likes it when I sell stuff. :)

The reason I asked is I have been carving ivory full time for over twenty years and my family rarely get excited about any of my creations. Now if I trade for a new knife that is a different story.I have a good deal of respect from my galleries and collectors and can sell every thing that I make.I think my wife is just used to what I do.The most important critic is yourself.

My wife loves my work... It affords me the time to Home School our son, and she has a hell of an eye for what will be popular... Behind EVERY good knifemaker is an even better women..:D

Chuck,

Hi again. My lady no longer enjoys watching me work or being around as I work. However, as a couriousiity, she fails very seldom to brag about my work far beyond that which I deserve.

I am sad she does not wish to be with me as I work and am puzzled at the inflated praise she gives me for it. You go figure it. I can't. WOMEN!!!

Hmmmm..
My wife filed for divorce about a month after I started my first knife.

I did send a pic of my first knife to a female friend, who was extremely, brutally honest about it. I'm currently reworking the handle and blade, then I'll post it soon.

My wife supports me and loves a good knife. She also says I only think about them and not her. She is jealous of the time I spend in the shop. It did help when I sold the last one I let her buy a new Dell computer and printer. Gee I wish I knew how to use it.
