What drive you to study and train FMA?

So many of the posts in this section are based upon questions or very specific ideas. Id like to try something different.

What drive you to martial arts? Why filipino arts?
 
First and foremost, convenience: a FMA and Indonesian silat instructor opened a school very close to my home.

I also like the fact the the FMA were developed for common peasants like me, who didn't have the time and resources to train like professional soldiers and royal bodyguards.

i.e. the techniques are relatively simple, flexible, and brutally effective - even against opponents well-trained in other arts.
