What EDC would you get for $50 or less?

Victorinox SAKs. Price and quality that you just can't beat. You can find a Tinker at Wally world for $20. You don't get deployment speed unless you get the thumbhole models like the Soldier, Rescue or the Sentinel.

Otherwise, any Kershaw or Spyderco that you can find under $50 is a good knife. You get nice brand protection and reliability.

+1 for SAK, if you actually can find one, a SAK and an Opinel are very good paired together, and small enough to not intimidate, I even carried my first SAK(A GolfTool) into a wedding reception and got rave comments on it, remember, buying a knife is all about fit, not brand, why shell out $50 or more on a knife that doesn't fit you? I live in the suburbs but go fishing, so I don't need a fixed blade, a knife should fit your lifestyle, which is why I have developed a certain fondness and affinity for Victorinox(and even Little Brother Wenger) SAKs, but it's fit fit fit that counts

The only knives I have which costed less than $50.00 are three chinese junker-clunker autos I bought on a whim from a corner Shell station.

Other than that, all of my knives, with the exception of one, costed north of $100.00. The one is a Cold Steel Black Rhino, which should have costed north of $150.00. But I bought it on a close-out sale for $65.00. It does see edc from time-to-time. So $65.00 is my cheapest edc knife.

Eveything this guy says is true. I'll also add that Cold Steel makes a couple nice EDC options sub-$50 as well. The Micro Recons, Medium(or Large, if you want something a bit bigger) Voyagers, and Tuff Lite/Mini Tuff Lite are all good knives and all under $50 as well.

spyderco delica or tenacious as well as a kabar dozier for a little bit cheaper but still awesome!

but always an opinel if you're into that kind of knife

Where are you guys getting Delicas for $50? Every place I've looked wants $58 minimum, many asking more than that...

It's very difficult to recommend a good knife for you without any parameters other than "EDC under $50". I can only tell you what I like.

Kershaw clash is my fav budget EDC folder, with the spyderco tenacious/persistence coming in right behind.

For what it's worth, I'm not aware of a knife from a reputable manufacturer that isn't decent quality (hence why they're reputable) so pretty much anything from Ka-Bar, Ontario, Kershaw, Spyderco, or any other company that has any sort of following at all would be a safe bet. You could pretty much print out a list of every option and throw a dart at it while blindfolded and end up with something good.

Kabar Dozier. Nice small light weight knife. I'm going to buy another one. My wife wants a pink one.

A large home improvement store sells the Victorinox Recruit for $13. Really can't beat the value in that. Picked up some really neat Wengers last month too, on sale for $15 each at a large discount department store.

AG Russell FeatherLite. Love it! And right at $50 or less, even the VG-10 model.

The best traditional pocketknives, in my opinion, for $50 are German-made Bokers. Nicely finished blades, excellent fit, and a variety of natural handle materials.

Spyderco Resilience, Tenacious, or Delica. Endura is more money but worth it.
For only a few dollars more a Kershaw Blur. Best assisted opener in my EDC rotation.
A Cold Steel Spec Elite comes in a few sizes and the mini is around $50. I know, I know before all the CS haters jump in.... it is the only decent offering I've seen from CS.

a low cost knife that I happen to like is the Byrd Cara Cara with G10 handles, you can find em around $35, otherwise maybe a Spyderco Tenacious, Kershaw Skyline is another, and that's about it for my low cost experience. Actually I gave a friend a Kershaw Tremor, and he loved it, its big and has assist. good luck with the hunt and let us know what you get!
