I'm a sebenza lover. I know many of you out there can say the same. I'd assume great minds think alike, so let's put my theory to the test: what other types of knives do you sebenzaholics like? I'm asking this bc i'm looking for another type of knife to obtain thats similar to the sebenza in styling and/or quality. I'm going to assume that some of you will say TNT, ATR, etc...and that's fine, but somebody gimmie something that i might not be familiar with. So...hit me!

Japanese swords and japanese style swords :D

Forged blades by Primos, Jay Hendrickson, Fisk and Ed Fowler

Hm....

Strider SNG

JW Smith folders

Kerambits

Are those what you had in mind ? :)

What probably appeals to you the most about Sebenzas are their incredible fit and finish, so ill limit my choices to those who i feel also have remarkable F&F.

As was said, JW Smith folders would be at the top of my list, the man doesnt make a mistake and is one of the very few who truly has the liner/framelock mastered.

Folders by Mike Obenauf, and of course Kit Carson as well. Smooth, precise, strong, beautifully made knives.

Here's a name not often heard, but it should be, Aaron Frederick, his 3PS knives can be had for about $400 and are amazingly smooth and well made. I think i recall it said he is JWS' son in law.

Phil Boguszewski, the SMOOTHEST actions out there, and, he doesnt cheat either by using teflon washers, theyre bronze, but the action is smoother than any teflon washers I have seen, and no play either.

Ill just reiterate the TnT, because it deserves to be on this list.

The evolution of the Sebenza, the "Lochsa" by Scott Cook, who of course worked closely with CR for several years.

In the fixed blade arena, i would look at Blackwood, Hossom, Rinaldi, Denning, Dempsey, Cook. And of course any of Chris Reeve's fixed blades.

I have often also been very impressed with the quality of Microtechs.

The main appeal of the sebys are real simple........they are great knives. Irregardless of the price, they work, like glocks.

For many years I put off buying a glock because they were so damn ugly.....but I kept taking to people who knew more than I and kept learning about their special place in the gun world. They arent for everyone..........but they work, and keep on working.

You gotta realize that the bottom line is that a knife if for cutting.

ummmm...thanks for your imput tom, great to have u take interest in my post....the glock thing's just kinda random....
hehe, i get ur point, i just wasn't expecting a response comparing a knife to a gun:rolleyes:

If you're like me, you're looking for precision and beauty in one cohesive package. Take a look at William Henry knives. Between CRK and William Henry, most of my knife wants are met. Now I just have to scrape up more cash to afford more of each. :D

I do love WH! I've handled a few and I really want one, and then I'll probably want another, and another, and another, and somebody stop me, and another....

The William Henry button lock titaniums have really got my eye right now. The Westcliff looks really good.
The other thing I will suggest is a Victorinox alox handled SAK. The Settler model actually sees more pocket time than either of my small Sebenzas.
I'm also anxiously awaiting the Scott Cook small Lochsa.

Well, other then my Sebenza my other main knife interests lie in Bob Dozier fixed blades and balisongs. I only have one Dozier, but I love that little knife. Like the Sebenza it's incredibly well made and has more performance that you would think by looking at it. I'm also a balisong fanatic because I just enjoy playing with them.

I agree with T. Mayo, they are like a Glock, very practical and do what they are supposed to very well. I have 4 Sebbies, 2 Mnandis, an Umfaan, and Glock 23 and 27. Got a Simonich Bitteroot the other day and going to get a Crowfoot from Mr. Simonich soon.

Just like a Sebenza, I want all my tools to be the best and do what they are supposed to in the simplist form possible to remove as many opportunities for failure as possible.

If you have a regular, get a classic! If you have a classic, get a regular! If you have BG42, get S30V! If you have a large, get a small! Or How 'bout a Mnandi??? Any Seb with wood in it will treat you like a different bird. IF ya wanna cut the price in half, find a 1st Gen. Microtech LCC. GREAT knife. I don't doubt the SnG. In fact... anyone wanna trade me some knives and flashlights for their SnG??? :p

I have a small Seb, but now carry a Mnandi more frequently. Also, have a couple of Umfanns. I like William Henry T10s too.

Pizza....
and knives.......
My collection has a very wide variety of knives.
the Majority of my other knives are well-made production folders (Benchmade, Spyderco, MOD are my favs.)

Check the folders by Bob Dozier. I just bought a new large
folding hunter (3.5 inch blade) with desert ironwood scales.
Just a fantastic knife.:D

man.... I need more money. Too many knives to be had, even just sticking with different types of sebenzas. btw, anybody have a mnandi or a small reg seb they want to trade for a small classic?

Besides Sebenzas? I like Mayo's TNT and Obenauf model 2 framelock. I also have a knife on order from John Smith.   ;) :p

Actually, im gonna have to respectfully disagree with Tom on his analogy, i dont think Glocks match up well with the Sebenza. True, they are each very capable tools, however, the Sebenza is an extremely precision oriented knife, in fact, to me, thats what really makes it stand out from the rest, the precision and quality of it. Glocks are, frankly, not precise pistols, before you argue with me, im a huge Glock fan, they are my favorite handgun, so, i absolutely appreciate what they offer, but, its not extreme precision, fit or finish, if thats what you want, get a Sig or HK, Glocks work so well in fact precisely because they arent extremely tight and dont require close tolerences.

So, i would have to say that Glocks are more like Striders, great designs, overbuilt, built to be punished, but they wont blow you away with their fit, finish or precision.
