What else . . . .

Please forgive the devation from the norm. We all (or at least all of us have an interest in) Ernie's designs. But Tattoo and I were exchanging emails and talking in the chat room, we found out that we have many of the same tastes in cutlery.

Here's the question, "Emerson knives not included, what else are you proud of in your collection?" If you have a picture, link it up, let's see what ya got!

John

John, I'm very fond of my new Al Mar SERE 2000. It is built like a tank - great construction. I have various Microtechs, Benchmades, CRKT's,Sperderco's etc but the SERE has the best lock up of all of them and there is nothing flimsy about it at all. Most manufacturers don't use enough handle screws in my opinion. The SERE and Emersons are the exception. My Microtechs are very good but I have found that I prefer the G10 grip over the Aluminum handles. I would love Emerson to beef up his handles a bit and return to the early days of the production models when the liner locks would really stick and lock up tight.
Cheers

Peter

Awww, man, don't make me get my camera out, John. It just reminds me that I need to upgrade my Olympus D340R to the D490Z. <sigh> Maybe next month.
Anyway, I think that Microtech Combat Talons are essentially gifts from the gods, therefore I'll begin my quest for a second one soon.
I'm also quite partial to my Protechs, and as of late I'm aquiring a serious taste for vintage Pacific Cutlery and Benchmade Balis of the 3" persuasion. OH, and Striders ROCK, so I'm patiently (yeah, right) waiting for my Custom GB Folder. Ahhhhh.

All in all, I'd have to say that my two most very favorite blades are my Fred Perrin Custom Buffalo Horn Bowie La Griffe and my perfect CTII (other than my 98 Commander and Titanium La Griffe, of course).

My only custom knife is my Terzuola ATCF. It is plain jane with titanium scales. I use it, but not nearly as much as my sebenza. Aside from my emersons, they get the most "clip time."
cheers,
DWE

Lately I've been interested in some items from Greg Lightfoot. I have a M-1 and a 460 Tanto on order. I'm pretty proud of a Carson M-21 I picked up, actually it was my first custom!

I'm also interested in the new Tanto Folder from Strider, it appears pretty massive!

In all, there are a bunch of knives I'm interested in, but must focus the finances!!

Up till now, I've been focusing on the Custom Emersons. I guess I've decided to branch out and sample the talent of others.

I truly love my large and small Sebs, and tomorrow a Mayo TNT should be waiting for me at the post office.

I'm very interested to see what the Busse folder materializes as, next up will be a Carson 4 or a Ralph EDC (or Apogee; I keep going back and forth on that one). I do love my Lamey Pearl River Hunter, too. BUT...probably my prize fixed blade is a one of a kind Neil Blackwood Loveless-style hunter.

I have alot of others that I carry but I don't think you want to see all of them. Here are a few:

The first pic are my Chris Reeve knives. They include a South African made fixed blade, a few Sebbies, an Aviator, and a couple of Umfaans. I like CRK stuff.

The next pic are a couple of Terzoulas that I carry very little, mostly when I am not going to be doing much cutting.

The final picture is a Tom Mayo TNT Prototype. It is a super light knife and I carry it alot.

I have alot of other stuff that I like to carry, but I won't bore you with more pics of non-Emersons. Soon I will be the prowd owner of a CQC6. I have a feeling I will be selling some of my other toys to feed my Emerson addiction.

RYAN-
Harbinger w/combo edge. It's wicked pissah.

FRED PERRIN-
The original Szabo Jaws I Protype. Forged high Carbon blade w/resin impregnated cord handle. This is the BADDEST piece of steel I own. It ain't much to look at but that's not what Fred's work is about.

KIT CARSON-
Lg Tanto, bolster with Carbon scales. The knife's fit is amazing. This man's work is amazing.

That's about it. I have owned some rare steel in the past and regret having sold most of them, but hey its about the hunt right???

I've been lurking here quite a while but this is only my 2nd posting. I've learned a lot from all of you. Of the 100 or so knives that I own, these 4 are my keepers/carry knives, the ones that I'll never trade away or sell. Top to bottom:

P-SARK by Bill Siegle. An awesome cutting machine.
REKAT Pocket Hobbit
MT Halo-III
Bud Nealy Kinzhal (Meier Damascus)

Thanks for the chance to show them off.

Well, the only custom I have right now is that G-10 Perrn LaGriffe.

BUT, I have orders pending with Reese Weiland, Greg Lightfoot and Phil Boguszewski, and I plan on putting an order in with Allen Elishewitz and Steve Ryan when I can afford to. So, I won't HAVE a collection for a while, but when they start rolling in, look out!

Unfortuneatly, I am still working with M3 Leica and Nikon equipment, so no E pic .

In terms of "Tacticals",

A John Smith "American Inner City Special" fighting bowie, forged, blued, sterile and wickedly sharp on both edges. This knife is truly scary. If you were a reader of "Fighting Knives", you will remember John's work.

Lightfoot 458 Mag, Dam Gold screws, others on order

Warren Thomas "Frequent Flyer" All Ti folder with lots of holes including the blade.

Ryan #1 immenent

Warren Thomas T-Rex immenent

Strider Folder on order

Wood/Colt folders, because they are unique and well made.

Hunters

Sigman- A whole bunch including a full skinner that is so curved and perfect, that it is hard to believe that an individual could make this knife!

Loveless Semi skinner, stag, thong hole, just received from Bob. Classic work that defined custom fixed working blades for two generations. I generally don't like thong holes, but you get a thong with a Loveless knife or you don't get a knife at all!

John Smith "American Wilderness" forged camp knife that is now at the sheath makers. Haven't seen it yet but I am sure it will make dent in a tree somewhere.

Would collect more of Ernie's custom knives except the prices are intellectually difficult for me to bear as are Loveless and Moran on the aftermarket. Custom/Production prices are IMHO out of line with what's is available.

Am looking at the Japanese now "Knife Magazine" to indentify trends. Ryan, Thomas and Strider seem to be the "in" thing. Japanese also like Marble's but the older steel does not age well and the newer production is not up to my standards.

The item that got me and Tattoo thinking was his new Tomahawk from Ryan Johnson.

I was looking at this picture and this one and was looking at the MD and the two Striders, and I was thinking, "Damn those are nice".

Looking over the responses to the question, I see a few I have and a few I'd like.
biggrin.gif

Here a few of the pieces I'm real proud of:

I really like Allen Elishewitz's older EDF Omega designs and own one M3, two M5s and one M6.

Newt Livesay makes some really interesting designs. I have a Bushi, Woo, NRG and Rtak.

Reese Weiland Wasp

Greg Lightfoot LCC. This one is a large version that he has made two of. (Chindit has the other)

Microtech Prototype LCC DA and Prototype LCC MA

Steve Ryan Recurved Kneck Knife (Thanks again Tamishigiri)

Here's a Tomahawk I'm having Ryan Johnson make for me. I took a couple of different models and made a composite picture of what I wanted. Can't wait for it to arrive.
What else ya'll got?
